Ezibuy boots: keep or return??

So I promised I'd take more photos of these ezibuy boots to get the final veridct, and here they are (all on one page if you prefer).

What do you think? Are they too gapey? They do feel a bit too roomy, but that also makes them easy to pull on/off since they have no zip. Does the toe look dorky?

My options:

1) Keep
2) Return and try these over the knee boots instead (in black). They have a zip (although only partial, not sure how that works!) and reviews seem to suggest they will be more fitted on the calf.
3) Return and give up on the over the knee idea and try these instead which I have been coveting for ages (in brown)
4) A combo of 2 and 3. BAaaaad for the credit card but oh-so-tempting ahahah!

I think they look great, but I don't know how they should fit. One thing I'm going to say, if they are much more fitted, then how are you going to pull them up?
I'm not sure if I missed the side zipper, then they could be more fitted!
OK, I just had the second look and there is no zipper, so I say KEEP!

Hi Tam! Nice to read you - hope you are feeling refreshed after your little holiday!

I'm going to be difficult in this instance and say I'd like to sit on the fence (sorry, I know you wanted a decision).

I can say that I really, really liked these boots on you when I saw the front shot - my reaction was yes, yes, yes, Keep! However..... then I saw the side shot and I really didn't like the way they gaped. That sort of made me wonder if the other boots may be a better fit? I'll be fascinated to see what the other ladies say!

Renata I know what you mean about the no-zip. I think if they were more fitted they'd be difficult to put on & take off. But is this amount of sagginess acceptable?

Katiepea thanks for the welcome back. I have had a rough week actually - got a bad case of strep throat the very day I started work in a new place. Thanks to antibiotics, prednisione and lignocaine syrup I made it through the week but felt very sorry for myself!! I know what you mean about the gape, from some angles I love them, then from others I think they look all wrong. Ugh!!!

I'm not loving the gaping I vote return and try some others you posted, i've had boots with a partial zip which gives enough room when undone to open up the ankle area of the boot to get your foot in x

Thanks Louise & Queenie. I'm leaning towards returning and going for the side zippered EM pair. If they work, they work. I should absolutely love them in order to justify keeping them, shouldn't I?

I think that it depends on how you are going to wear them. These look cute for casual, but if you're going to go for dressier looks, I would say try the more fitted pair.
I've been browsing over-the-knee boots in anticipation of Fall (months away, I know) and am curious what you plan to wear them with? I love the way they look but I'm not sure how I'd wear them.

I think the boots look great over jeans, but not as great with a dress. They look harsh and actually come up a little too high I think. So I vote return. Are you set on a black pair?

I think I have to agree with Angie here Tam, sorry. Have you considered a lighter grey pair, or maybe bone or cream?

Oh and I just wanted to say I love that colour blue on you, quite unexpected, and gorgeous!!

I vote for the EM boots! They will fit your calf and be tall enough. If I were taller I would probably have gone for them. As yet I have not found a pair of OTK boots that are short enough for me

Hi st4rrgrrl I plan to wear them with dresses/tights and over jeans as seen in this thread. Not sure what other ways there are to wear them!

Angie do you mean these boots in particular look harsh, or the colour looks harsh? I was thinking black for over-the-knee, and brown if I got the under the knee Frye ones. Here are the (roughly) knee-length boots I already have:
- black Camper spirals
- silver doc boots
- scrunchy tan boots that I bought 2nd hand last year in SF

Do you think the EM ones would look better with a dress or is it this style that doesn't??. I would really like to wear them with both dress and jeans.

Inge, I thought about grey, but not cream. The EM boots come in smog on endless & amazon, but my size there is sold out and I can't see them anywhere else online either I haven't really seen any cream boots in my travels. Maybe I'll try googling some

Maya I'm tending towards the EM myself. Hmmm. I really liked the fact these were actually the right height for me. Even the Spiral Campers and 20 hole docs I find a bit too short to be properly knee-height on me!

Tam, I think that a lighter OTK boot is more versatile. Mine are light grey and a little lower than yours (they come half way up my knee). I wear them both over jeans and with shorter dresses.

So ezibuy boots are officially sent back. Suprisingly postage was only $10 for such a large parcel (boots + 4 dresses!) I'm a bit sad they didn't work out - so close! - but glad I tried them otherwise I'd always be wondering if they'd have been perfect for me!

Angie I've just done some internet browsing and not seen any cream/grey/lighter OTK boots at all that are a) flat, b) not suede, c) come in my size. Do you think the EM boots would look too harsh in black as well?? I am tempted to give them a go since Nordies has size 41, but international postage would work very $$ if they don't work out either.

Another option if I forget this whole OTK malarky is to go for either of these cute Fly London booties.

Trying to decide whether to go with the EM boots or forget about the whole thing....

Tam, the links are showing the same boots but holy cow I LOVE them! That is not much of a heel at all. They are the same height as your Vidal pumps and you wear those right? You have me lusting after them now. I might have to get them later in the season. I normally don't even like colored boots but that red is delicious.

However, if you think the EM boots would be more versatile, maybe go for them? It's just so hard with boots. A good fit is tricky and postage is expensive for you. The FL's would be a virtually guaranteed fit if you order the same size as your pumps (maybe 1/2 size bigger since you would presumably wear socks).

I think you should try the ones yuou have been coveting for a long time. There is one way to get over the coveting and that is to try them and buy them or try them and realize they aren't for you. I think they are gorgeous though.

Because I love any and everything that has to do with horses, I say nab the riding boots! Funny to see them go from the show ring to home floor in such a quick second.

Maya I have to confess the only time I have worn the Fly London pumps is to the job interview last year. Even heels like that don't really fit into my lifestyle. I cannot wear heels at all to work (running around on feet for at least 10 hours) and 90% of the rest of the time I dress squarely in the casual camp as well.

I like the Frye, but I also like the ideal of the OTK boots...although I kind of agree with Angie that they might be more wearable in a color other than black. I have a pair of Weitzman boots similar to the Frye and they are very versatile. So I guess my vote is for the Fryes, but to keep a look out for OTKs in gray.

So far the Frye's have it, which makes sense given that I have been saving and putting away money for them for months. By Thursday next week (payday, yay!) I'll officially have enough to buy them anyway, without it being a huge chunk out of my pay, so its like they are for free......right?? hehe twisted logic or what!!!

But I'm also worried that if I delay on the EMs too much I'll miss out completely as the only place to get them online in my size is Nordies atm. Plus its northern hemisphere summer, so online boots are few and far between at the moment.

I love the Frye boots, very classic but with enough of an edge to make them your style.
