Eyelash products besides Latisse?

I've used Latisse for almost 4 months and had great results...I was so happy to have nice eyelashes for the first time in my life. But, par for the course for me, now I have to stop. I was having some mild irritation and the eyelid darkening but I decided I could live with that because the results were so good.

But...now I have started to think my eye color is charging and that is a deal breaker. I have green eyes with copper flecks and it's like the copper has started to melt and spread...they actually look lighter instead of darker. It is subtle...I doubt anyone else would notice...but I don't want it to continue. I hope it doesn't if I quit the latisse.

But there go my pretty eyelashes. Has anyone had any good results from any of the cosmetic counter eyelash growth products?

No help but I just wanted to say eye colour can change at any time. I was born with dark blue eyes and had them until I was 6-7 years old, and then they changed, got lighter to a mottled blue/green/grey, and I now have a copper ring around my pupil.

My eyes have changed too. They used to be very dark brown, now they are a lighter brown/hazel.

You could check out the eyelash serum from DHC (http://www.dhccare.com). I bought it based on the reviews but I can't really say if it works or not because I really didn't use it regularly.

The active ingredient in Latisse very, VERY rarely changed eye colour (darkened it) when applied directly to the cornea as treatment for glaucoma. When applied directly to the cornea, the risk of eye colour change was less than 1%. In Latisse testing, it never changed eye colour. Indeed, putting aside first-person testimonials (which are notoriously unreliable), I'm not sure there has ever been a substantiated case of Latisse changing eye colour when used as directed. If using it directly on the cornea produced change in less than 1% of users, the risks of it actually changing eye colour when applied to the lash line is almost non-existent.

I am not sure there is any product that can compete with Latisse. Most OTC products only "condition" lashes to make them less likely to break. I'm not aware of any that actually change the growth cycle of the follicle like Latisse does. There are rave reviews of Rapid Lash online, but it does next to nothing for me. When you do decide to change, I would make sure you have the new product in hand and begin its use the day you quit the Latisse, so at the very least it can help to maintain your current lashes for as long as possible.

Hmm, I didn't know people actually got good results with Latisse - it's good to know. I've seen the eyelid darkening, but I have only seen a few people on the medication.

I can't think of any other meds that have "long eyelashes" as a side effect :p

The Latisse site says that eye darkening can occur and it may be permanent. So weird!

Echo, I did read that too. So confused about what to do! For online reviews that rave about products, for all I know they are the ones selling the stuff. I can't be sure it is a real, independent review.

Does Latisse permanently impact the growth of the lashes or does the growth only last while you are using it?

Glory...only while you are using it. Now that I've stopped they will go back to their short skimpy norm.

I had an allergic reaction to Latisse but I have found Rimmel Lash Accelerator mascara really does stimulate growth for my eyelashes. It isn't as dramatic as the Latisse effect but definitely increases the density and length of the lashes and it is reasonably priced.

Wow, Viva, I don't think I can do any of those things! Her lashes look great for sure though. It seemed kind of strange she said something about latisse and vanity, when she gets eyelash extensions and dyes them! How is that less vain?! I think she is joking though.

Castor oil applied with a Q-Tip to the lash line can help a bit. I found that it definitely made a noticeable difference to thinning and over plucked areas of my eyebrows. It seemed to help a bit at the bald corners of my upper lashes, but I am too lazy to use it regularly. . .

Once I stopped using mascara everyday my lashes thickened up and became fuller. Also, I don't know if it is due to the monthly facials or not, but my eyebrows are not sparse anymore. I am 57 and I really noticed it in the past month how much they have filled in.

I'm another one of those whose eye color has changed - it changed as I was going through menopause - the color became lighter - more like a light blue than a dark blue (which I had had my entire life.)
I used to use Latisse and swore by it - complete strangers would stop me on the street to compliment me about my eyes/eyelashes. I quit using it a couple of years ago due to financial issues - but would go back in a minute if I could afford it.
The only side-effect that I noticed was a slight darkening of my lash line (on the eye-lid.) A non-issue for me, as I always wear eye-liner anyway!

I recently bought Latisse from Medical Specialists to boost my eyelashes and gotta say im amazed by the results!!! surely nothing can beat this???
