Eyeglass question for fellow 4-eyes :)

So those of you who have multiple pairs, are the frames all really different from each other? I'm having a hard time finding frames that I think look good on me that are NOT rectangular like my current pair.

I want to add these dark tortoise frames, but the shape is very similar to my purple pair. Would you do it or keep looking?

1 - Dolce & Gabbana tortoise, wide arms
2 - current pair - JK London purple with thinner tortoise arms

I have the same problem as you - I'm kind of used to my old pair (returned my new pair) and everyone is used to seeing my old pair on me.

I say if it isn't broke, don't fix it

I rotate three pairs. All very different from each other. But in the same breath they are all refined, plastic and black & white.

1. Geek-Chic

2. Retro-Delicate-Dressy

3. Modern-Graphic.

It really doesn't matter if the shape is the same - the colour change speaks volumes.

I have a very narrow face - I need a small frame, and there aren't that many choices that fit all my other requirements (plastic, somewhat modern looking, don't droop, etc.) I just replaced my black frames with the exact same style in tortoise. It's a very small, subtle difference, but a difference nonetheless! I couldn't be more pleased!

The main difference in mine is color change. I have a black and clear pair that is very graphic. Then I have a simple purple pair. I love them both and they are very different even though the shape is kinda similar.

The main differences between mine are color and thickness of the frame; other than that, the shape is basically the same.

If you love the shape I say go for it. I tend to go for cat-eye shapes and for a while I loved frames in burgundy metal ( I had 2 consecutive pairs).

lyn* - I agree - I've really been pushing myself to try on frames that are just the opposite of what I normally gravitate to, trying to "train my eye" and so on. But I've finally concluded that there are a limited number of shapes that suit my face shape - and that's fine by me!

Angie - Thank you so much for the clarification! You are so fortunate to be able to wear such a varied style of frames - and of course, skilled in picking such flattering shapes! It is good to know I'm not just wasting my money if I get similar shaped frames, as long as the color is distinctive.

tarzy - I agree - there are subtle differences in my current pair and the ones I'm looking to add - and that's enough for me - the overall shape is the same, and thus flattering on me.

bj111 & deb - how interesting! You are both so fortunate to have found so many different frames that are flattering on you. I just can't seem to break out of the rectangular frame mindset right now.

qfbrenda, Amy & Day Vies - your collective wisdom seems to echo Angie's advice. I feel more confident sticking somewhat close to the softened rectangular shape now, and looking for striking (but flattering) frame colors. Yay - thanks!

I have 2 with very different shapes. One a warm brown and gold and one black and silver.

I find the optician assistants very helpful with shapes
