Extend leg line or bookend?

Hi ladies,
I have a question about choosing whether to wear a black bootie with dark jeans to extend my leg line (I'm 5'4") or wear a brown neutral shoe to bookend my brunette hair. I guess either is fine but just thought I'd get your valuable opinions! Thanks!

I don't think you can go wrong with either. I like a little bit of contrast and it sounds like you get that with both.

I too am 5'4".

I much prefer to wear black booties with my black pants. Not necessarily to lengthen the leg line but mostly because I like how it flows. However, I recently purchased a pair of wide leg black trousers and much prefer my brown booties which bookends my hair.

So my answer is, it depends

I prefer black booties with black tights, but I also have black hair ... so... I don't know what I'm doing, I just muddle through it!

I think they are both good strategies and the one that works best would depend on your proportions. If you are longer legged, then bookending may be the best look and if you have a longer torso, perhaps the black would work well for you. Why not shake it up and do both for variety.

Bookending is a strange concept to me still, until spending time here it's the first I've heard of it in the fashion world! I suppose it depends on the look you're going for and if you like high or low contrast. I think things should 'go' but not always match.

Both can work beautifully, in my opinion. I'm also 5'4" with shorter than average legs, so often I like to extend the leg line. But I've also learned how bookending brings cohesion to outfits. I have blonde hair so "bookend" best with taupe.

Sometimes black footwear can look heavy and unbalances the outfit with black bottoms. Taking photos helps to see the total picture even if you are the only one looks at them.

Thanks for sharing your perspectives. I can't seem to find comfortable black booties anyway so for now I'm going with my butter colored Frye campus
boots over my skinny jeans.

I don't bookend or bracket or "top and tail" if it's going to wreck the groove or feeling I'm going for. Life's too short for rules imo.

I love the bookend concept, which I also learned here. It has helped get me OUT of nothing-but-black-shoe heck, and I have dark blonde hair. (I LOVE my metallic goldy-bronzy summer sandals!)

However, I'm only 5'1", so I still use the longer-line concept a lot. With jeans of any darker denim, I think you can be pretty flexible, but to echo Meli once more, I'd probably go fairly low contrast with whichever color you pick.
