Explain this sale logic! Now with pix...

While the boy was poking around Foot Locker I went to the next mall store which is a cheapie teen store. On the 2/$10 rack I found a really cute fake shearling drapey jacket. It was marked $19.99 from $72. I went to pay and the cashier said it was not supposed to be on that rack but she would honor the price - so if I got another item it would be $10 total. I didn't even want another item and offered to just pay $10 for the jacket, but she said I had to take another or pay $19.99. So I picked the remaining shearling jacket in L and paid $10 for both.

So flummoxed!

Pic 2: WIW today. This vintage Givenchy cardi is a find from consignment - it is already proving to be a statement essential. It has cool ribbing on the shoulders, a funky pieced jagged hem, and can fasten asymmetrically in front for an Allsaints kind of look.

I had that happen when I went to exchange an olive sheer stripe dolman top for a different size this fall. It had gone on sale at 2 for 1 price, vs the 40% off I'd paid. So, to get a S in exchange for the M, and save a buck on top, I had to also get another. In my haste I grabbed red (should have chosen blue, the red was too orangey warm toned).

Two for ones lead to some odd times at the cash register. I went to return an item that was part of a two clearance items on the rack one price thing. The refunded me the single sale price of the item and weren't interested in making a lower adjustment because of the 2 for 1 - I guess it was complicated to do. So basically the remaining item that I had at home....was free.

Both the $5 jacket and vintage sweater look like awesome finds!

Perhaps they wanted to clear out stock, but it is just as likely that the person at the register couldn't figure out how to make the discount work without another SKU to enter.

And this is kind of a different situation, but still crazy. I once made a purchase while near my mum's house (about an hour away). When I got home, I realized they had not charged me for a costly item. I called them and offered to give them the SKU and a credit card number so I could pay for it. They told me I had to come in. I explained that I lived too far away, and they REFUSED to take payment. Basically, their position was, "Show us or it didn't happen." So they wouldn't let me pay for it.

If anyone is interested in the L, it is H&M quality but soft and feels surprisingly nice and cozy on. The sleeves fold down too so you don't have to have the shearling show. There is no fastening or pockets - it's almost like a distressed shearling waterfall cardi. I would probably have paid a lot more for an item like this of better quality, but this is actually a good way for me to try this out, especially since this is not a color I normally wear.

Most unfortunately, I dont think the color would work for me. Style is awesome and fun to try.

I would love this if still available. Large would fit me and maybe it has a tiny sprinkling of magic dust on it and I would look just 1/10 as impossibly cool as you do!

I went into a Dots chain store with a friend a couple summers ago and they had sunglasses at a twofer price. I found one I wanted but not another. I went to pay for it and they quoted me regular price, at which I could have bought 4 at sale price. Same thing as your experience. I even offered the twofer price but I just wanted to take the one. They refused to sell me one pair. I didn't buy anything because I found their "policy" so obstinately irritating.

Thanks, I did PM you and I'm feeling lucky in regards to fit. I'm 5 feet tall and slightly IT and carry more mass in the front side vs the back. Wouldn't be a problem with button strain with this style. (plus I can sew)

Great story about the deal at H&M. I say, take the goods and run. These situations happen because retailers make too much to begin with and then mark up the prices too high to start. Lucky you, Una (and Vildy!).

Ha. This reminds me of a music festival I went to years ago where one of the only food stands was selling chicken nuggets and waffle fries, only in that combination. I asked for just the waffle fries since I don't eat meat and they said no, they "weren't selling them that way."

???

I clarified that I wasn't asking for additional waffle fries instead of the chicken, I was just asking them not to include the chicken so I didn't have to waste food that I wouldn't eat.
