I loved Angie's ensemble formula with midi pencil skirts and bomber jackets and couldn't wait to see what I could come up with from my closet. I have two bomber type jackets, so I tried coming up with an outfit with each of them.

The first outfit is with a black silky jacket from COS. I should have taken a picture from the side, because the jacket drops down to more of a shirt-tail in the back, and I think it looks better in person than it does in photos. I wanted to brighten up the look, so I paired it with a bright tangerine top from Anthropologie. I know a scoop or crew neckline might be better with the jacket, but I wanted a bright color. This is one of the ubiquitous Vince Camuto tube skirts- very comfy, and I've worn it a ton. For shoes I stepped a bit out of my comfort zone into fierce and added my Vince Camuto cut-out booties with pointed toes. I usually wear these with pants, and I'm not sure how I feel about them with a skirt. I feel like this outfit is NOT conventionally flattering, but I do like the dramatic feel of it.

The second outfit is with a Zara marbled print skirt. Only $25, and I love this skirt so much! My first inclination, as always, is to pair it with black, but I am making a concerted effort to lighten up for spring and summer, so I've put it with an ivory silk Elizabeth and James top, and my Helmut Lang gray crinkly bomber jacket. I went with more ladylike metallic J Crew wedges this time. Maybe I should scrunch the jacket sleeves.

What do you think? Does either of these work?
Input is appreciated!

ETA: Oh, and in light of one of the recent beauty threads, I have to add that I'm wearing what more than one person said they would never try: orange lipstick! I think it's kind of fun for spring, and this is more of a red-orange, so not too out there.
