Haha Marilyn! But maybe what starts as an "insignificant day" could become a very good day if you wear the nice things! If not, try again
I beleive in wearing the things, especially if they cost a lot- though not if its snowy or muddy or whatnot! DH unfortunately is the opposite, he wears the old stuff over and over. His nice $$$ Mephisto sandals are just the right size to be kitten scratching posts

Beautiful and wise responses, thank you so much everyone. I will definitely reread your responses from time to time to refresh my memory.

Life is short so it's important to not "save" the good stuff, at whatever price point feels "extravagant" to you for that item. I agree that part of the issue here is shopping for an imaginary life in which it doesn't rain all the time and my feet are warm. Having said that I will wear them at the next appropriate weather day and rock them before they get super dated or other life changes happen, as several of you mentioned. Agree 100% with the idea of buying less but quality, and looking at 2nd hand. Joy, I love the sound of your outfit!! Also agree with several of you and no longer buy DCO items and handwash many that say they are. Cardiff Girl, I agree that it would be awful to shuffle off to the "Great Closet in the Sky" leaving behind lovely unworn items for no good reason. Thanks for the laugh.

Appreciate everyone's wisdom!

There’s a difference between “the good stuff” and the “too fancy stuff”.
Sometimes those things overlap and we get confused.
Mostly I think you should cultivate good, infancy, things.
