I'll probably keep these since hubby loves them but I'm still interested in what you all think of these dresses. They aren't styled... bare toes and all.

He's wanted me to get a strapless dress for a while and friends of mine loved this one so I brought it home. It's a bit longer than the hemline I'm used to. Would I need heels for this dress? I'm considering adding some wedge--not platform--sandals to my shoe collection. I'm not sure about a midi-length + short legs + flats combination.

The black dress has a lace overlay all over it.

I understand if some of you have a poison eye for strapless things, but what do you think? I think I need to ask to have date nights more often.

Both of them are really cute. For two types of dates: picnic,drive around the lake, stop for a beer; and concert or theater followed by dessert and coffee or a nice glass of wine. You should have lots of evenings covered with these! I don't think you need heels for the blue and white one - any sandals flat or wedges would probably do. Or ballet flats.

First, I'm laying aside my jealousy that you get to have *date nights* so I can be objective, lol! I really love the blue and white one, and I think you could wear a flat sandal that was low contrast with that. I would! Gorgeous print! The black one is really lovely too.

Great dresses! I love them both. I'm not a fan of strapless but the blue one may have me changing my mind. What a gorgeous dress on you. The black one is classic and looks super versatile. It looks like it could work for cocktails or just dinner out! Nice haul!

These are really cute on you, Brenda. They both have a sort of fun, retro flair to them - - very feminine.

I think the strapless one would look pretty with a wedge sandal for sure. But you could also wear it with a lower contrast flat sandal or shoe, or even one the was higher contrast if it had a lower vamp or a V shaped vamp (instead of strape going across horizontally). I can see it with red shoes or sandals for sure!

The black dress will be versatile for you. Do you think you'd wear that one through the cooler months, too?

Suz, I'm thinking about how to wear the black on in cold months. I have a dressy black cardigan from Banana Republic that might work with it... or my leather jacket... I'll have to try some different things and see what works.

I agree with a cardi. I would go with red or yellow for the blue even hot pink. Heels aren't a requirement with a dress -- I'm thinking the blue one here. I really like dresses like this with a comfy flat sandal in a bright color.

The black is simply sexy. What about a turquoise or coral kitten heel sort of a retro vibe.

Love the strapless one! In agreement with alaskagirl I'd pair it with a cardigan or bolero and low-mid height wedges. The black one is gorgeous on you and could be dressed up or down.

Love them both, I agree with everyone on the shoes/sandals. The black one looks like one in my wardrobe, endlessly versatile and can be dressed up and down. A winner!

I think both are keepers.

I think you can stick with flats if needed as I don't like to push people into heels--I like to have option for no heels. But....your idea of a wedge is great, if it's comfy for you. A nude 1-2" wedge would look great with the blue print and still easy enough on the feet for date nights.

Late to the game, but I think they are both lovely! You have inspired me to pair a denim jacket with a long unworn strapless dress and see how it works! thanks for the idea!

Oh, great dresses! I would wear both in a heartbeat. Definitely try wedges with the blue/white one, and a shrug is an excellent suggestion. Maybe you could knit one yourself, or get someone to do it for you?

The black dress is also very pretty and feminine. For summer, a pair of silver sandals would look great. Lucky you who get date nights!
