Yes, there are some good points in the article, and I could write about this for hours. But the reality is that non-ideal male nudity is often as ridiculed as non-ideal female nudity, though admittedly often for different reasons. American society has idealized the body, both male and female, to the point where many people feel they don't have the right to be naked, beautiful or even sexual if they don't conform. Then again, there are nude beaches in many European countries where non-ideal bodies are on display with no shame, so it depends on the society. Female nudity (at least toplessness) is not illegal in NYC.
But overall, coming from an Arctic climate, I feel my power originates from somewhere other than my naked body. I prefer to express it in finer and more detailed ways other than with the blunt tool of nudity.
