Ha! Well, to each his own. I think it looks good! I would wear it over a top without a collar, though, despite how they are showing it in the store photo. To me, it seems to call for a very soft, unobtrusive under-layer. Or a very fitted tee.
Your outfit looks fabulous. Fall colors, yet with bare arms and toes for your warm weather. Nicely done!

I think a tee or a turtleneck would look good under the cardi. It's a very interesting piece. Definitely not gross or horrible. Your other outfit is very nice. We're having a cold snap (15F this morning) so sleeveless tops are packed away here.

As for the styling I think #1 just isn't dramatic enough. The hemlines fall similarly and the underlying proportions are very "even"; might be better with a shorter skirt/dress/shorts or slim pants. I also don't see a lot of textural variation, everything is more or less "fine"; so maybe add something like leather or velvet or a chunkier/ribbed knit.

I have to agree with him. I am not sure why this doesn't work for you. It could be length of the garment. It just seems so long that it confuses the eye. Add in the long white tunic and the eye doesn't really know what to make of it.

I agree with Firecracker (and not your dh!) I would try a scoop neck top (no collar or buttons). You look casually fab in the last outfit.

Thanks, everyone! I'm not sure this one's salvageable. I tried slim tanks with scoop necks, slightly fluid tank with V neck, slim tee with round neck, tucked, untucked, skinny jeans, straight jeans, bootleg jeans. I couldn't find anything that worked. By the time my husband came in, it was almost a relief to stop trying!

I agree with Dakota Cheryl. I think this is something that would work better on someone taller.

I actually LOVE the sweater. I think it would go smashingly with a black top to keep it monochromatic underneath and have the sweater be the star. But I agree about the general lack of tact men commonly display.

I think he's a bit over the top. It may not be the most obviously flattering item, but it's okay, even kind of cool. I'm not sure I'd keep it myself, but it does NOT look gross on you!

I don't dislike it and think you could work with it. I have a similar type of cardigan from Allsaints that I'm fond of. I have not won compliments/ nor received criticism for it at home but here it is in finds and I used it as my apocalypse now look a couple of weeks ago.

Actually to be fair to Mr. Suz, his eye often "adjusts" after a little tantrum or two.

I think this is potentially great on you but agree with others that maybe a different neckline is called for on the top underneath. However, if it is that unpopular on the home front it hardly seems worth the effort involved to style it.

I think wearing it over a black top and bottom or monotone outfit might work better. If you don't love, by all means don't keep it!

I can't wrap my head around SS. Who is their customer? My 80+ mother has ordered from them. I thought they were geared for elderly women (inactive - maybe even in wheel chair).. But the models....tall and slim with heels....what's with That?

You know, I was eager to see that one, Carter, and am so sorry for the failure you expereinced. It just happens, to all of us! BUT I think it is not irreparable, just a size too big!:-) Think it has to be stretchy on the bust somehow, than will surely work!!! Could you try to size down before giving up...love that piece:-).

I love the outfit you wore. Simple but interesting. Gorgeous sandals. The SS cardigan looks like something I would like but I agree that it is a lot of work. A size smaller would be better but then the twisted thing would draw attention to the bust. These are things I ask myself when I buy clothes. Do I want that?

I can see what drew you to the cardi -- it's dramatic and cozy. However, unless you love it, feel free to move on. I really like the twist detail, but I wonder if it would be easier to style if it were a bit shorter -- to mid thigh.

I don't think it looks gross at all... but it might be better with a column of colour underneath. And maybe smaller. But overall it sounds like too much work, and as Bijou says, you'll probably always question it now. Next!
