Online but also reading a fantasy novel, Facebook feed, NYT updates, texting with my kid at boarding school. Novel and kid are winning. (Also having a glass of white bordeaux to take the stress off.)

Ummlila has the right idea, I think. I have my phone, knitting, a boozy drink, and ylf. The fantasy novel sounds like a good idea.

Also I just switched the tv from NBC to PBS. So much less anxiety-inducing.

My son in Japan has asked for the day off, he can't concentrate on work. He has had friends in the US contacting him tonight to see if he knows of a job for them in Japan. They want to leave the country. I just turned off the tv.

I want to say I'm surprised but honestly I'm not. Too many people left behind by neo liberal politics who end up voting against the establishment. It's the same in Germany with the new AFD party becoming so strong so quickly. The divide gets bigger and politicians far and wide are doing nothing to change that.

What is also heartbreaking is discovering who among one's friends supported that man. It's been an odd morning. And wow, look how many YLFr's are logged on right now! I've never seen such a long list ! A testament to this community .

In spite of the shocking outcome, I'm proud to say my state went for Hillary, and I volunteered on her campaign, doing voter registration. My state also elected a Hispanic woman to the Senate. We also passed a gun control measure. My county also passed a measure to support the schools.

Re: Lynn's comment above, I made a comment on the NYT several weeks ago, and I was invited to leave the country!
