Everyone okay in the Midwest?

Fortunately, the worst of the weather went south of us. I do have friends with damage in Indiana, but everyone is OK personally. In recent years, I've learned to fully utilitize all the phone alerts and radar apps to keep informed of the weather, and we have an "emergency weather family plan." Severe weather has to be respected these days, particularly since I have children to care for.

November? Tornadoes? Very odd.

I'm sorry to hear about your friends, Beth Ann, but am relieved to hear that nobody got hurt! And thanks for starting this thread Manidipa. I too hope that everyone is safe!

No power, but other than that OK in West Michigan. Hopefully it will be on soon because it is getting cold in our house!

Hope you have electricity soon, Julie. And Beth Ann, whew! Yes, upsetting especially at this time of year. Hope your friends have friends to pitch in and help them out too. Though such a relief for all individuals to be physically okay. After the Philippines, it's really 'there, but for the grace...' So glad you and yours are in no danger and have a contingency plan to boot.

Moving to the Baymont Inn. It's just too cold and it's dark 13 hours/day. They say we may not have power until Friday:(

Thanks ladies! There is a pool and a good breakfast Beth Ann! I can stand to be home for part of the day, but not at night. We have to leave the lovely Baymont and find another place if it is not back on tonight. Fortunately it is only my husband and myself and we can move around fairly easily. Our son went to his brother's apartment but staying at a place with a group of 20 year old guys doesn't really appeal to me:) Today I guess I will decide what to do with my refrigerated/frozen food. I know a small problem in the whole scheme of things, but so annoying!

So sweet of you to ask, Manidipa!
There was some serious damage very near where I live: trucks tipped over, a car picked up and thrown into a building by the wind. The high winds at our house were scary, but we didn't have any damage besides some tree branches down.

One of the worst tornados was four miles from my parents-in-law but luckily no damage at all at their house. Just a brief power outage. Still, it must have been scary. I hope those of you without power get it back ASAP and my thoughts are with all the people who were hit by it.

Back on today, it is so nice to have heat again!
Parsley - we did not have that kind of damage around here, but so many without power! Glad you were safe.

My son and his family are just north of Chicago. They had wind and rain and are okay--and I'm certain they are happy they had the big old trees around their house trimmed last year. Some amazing stories from some of the survivors.

They shut down the commuter trains for a couple of hours which I suppose is much better than having them tip or something. DD was stuck in Chicago for a few hours after she and other kids in her service organization handed out gloves to homeless folks. Since it was a group of them, I expect the only suffering was more socializing instead of studying and completing homework.
