I heard the mail truck as I was drifting off for a nap on the couch. Please excuse the couch hair and face. As soon as I woke up I ran to the mailbox, ripped open the package and threw it on.

First impressions of the shirt: the silk is SO nice. It almost feels like suede. It's heavy and fluid and luscious. This is navy. Pulling it out of the envelope, I thought they sent the wrong color because it looks more like my muted black dress from them. Looking more, I decided it is navy, but be warned, very dark, muted navy.

Fit: it's very short! I'm short and this shirt pushes my limits on short. I've been looking for a shorter, flowy, boxy top that doesn't have a high neckline, that I could wear with higher waisted and more voluminous bottoms. I think I got what I wished for here. Now I need to decide if I was right to even want this.

I like the shirt with the knit boyfriends. It's ok with the pencil skirt. I don't think I'd wear it with the other bottoms I tried. Most of them didn't even make it past my internal filter to get a picture. I need to try it with toppers, but didn't have the mental bandwidth to earnestly style. Heck, I couldn't even get my shoes on in more than the first picture.

Thoughts and opinions welcome!

I love it! Length looks fine and I can see from here how good that fabric is. Why are you doubtful exactly? Not sure I understand....

I love it. I would love a shirt like that. I checked out the website. It looks longer on the model who is 5'10". ? Whatever. The shirt looks great on you.

I *think* I'm unsure because it's a new silhouette for me, and I'm trying to figure it out. Artfully placed volume on a body that is voluminous can be a tricky beast. The shorter hem on the top means it doesn't cover the bottom edge of my tum, a body part I'm trying to come to terms with.

I do really like the look with the black girlfriend pants, but I'm struggling with deciding if I have other bottoms I'd wear it with regularly, or if it will be a one trick pony. It may be too expensive for a one trick pony. I want it to work with skinny bottoms, but I don't seem to have the right skinny bottoms in my closet for that right now.

Stylefan, I know! I swear this shirt would be comically short on someone 5'10". This is a 12, fwiw.

Is it a cropped length? It looks great on you, but I can see why you would feel uncomfortable. It doesn't have any extra fabric to allow for a tuck. What happens if you bend over (in back)? Does the shirt leave you feeling too exposed?

It's longer in back, so there's plenty of coverage.

I like it. From straight on it looks like a perfect length with the pants and the skirt. I think longer would cover too much in this shape shirt! You make me want one too!

Looks great to me! I love that dark navy on you. I would like to see this with some lighter colored bottoms. It's good with black but I bet it could be great with light or medium wash denims... and the way you describe the luscious silk makes me want one of these, too.

If this shirt were a dress I'd live in it. I'm tempted by the silk tank dress they have, but I'm not sure I'd wear it much before summer comes back.

I really like it on you. The color looks rich and luscious. The color certainly suits you well. I understand the trepidation about trying new silhouettes so I agree that you should think about it and play with it.

I am 5'10". I suspected this top would look ridiculous on me.

I also like the idea of making it work with lighter bottoms but the couple of lighter bottoms I have in my closet at this time didn't really flatter with the shirt. I think this will be a good piece for me to play around with to explore volume on volume and higher waisted bottoms.

Love it! And I think your eye may go to your "tum" but no one else's does! You look great. I think it would be cute with white boyfriends too. I like it with the pants and the skirt, too.

Love it on you! I have been eyeing those tops and now I will jump if and when they start their long promised international delivery/family member visits/have any budget for clothes. I would wear a cami under it and not worry about exposure.

Love the shirt. I want one! How does the sizing compare to your usual size? ( I am confused by their size chart.)

Joy, the sizing is a bit hard to pin down because this shirt is SO oversized. I'd say it is pretty true to size, but I also think I could wear one or two sizes down and still have lots of ease in the shirt. In knits tops I've been wearing things around 10-12 lately, but I usually size up one in button ups to avoid the gap. I figured this was so oversized I shouldn't have chest gap in a 12, and I was right. I had previously tried the Japanese Oxford Square shirt and after the 12 didn't look right I tried the 10 and it fit, but did not flatter. I have heard some complaints of Everlane that their smaller sizes are too large and larger sizes too small.

Kikidee, I know you're right that our eyes go to our own trouble spots first. I'm taking baby steps here by letting the tum out in dark bottoms. I'll keep trying to work up to lighter bottoms, I promise.

After I got dressed this morning I had a couple of ideas about layering under this shirt. These aren't perfect, but you get the idea. I realized that worn open it almost has a kimono look. I've had a hard time finding a kimono in the right proportions. This may be a stand in.

I tried it open over a tank and it's not quite right, but I think the idea has potential. On a whim, I buttoned the shirt, expecting weirdness, but it kind of works. It reminds me of a style of color block top I've seen. Worth considering for more silhouette options.

I'm curious to try this shirt, buttoned, on top of a fitted sheath dress. I'm not sure if it would look different from the tube skirt I tried earlier.
