Everlane cords - whiskering? ETA photos

So, after seeing how great the Everlane cords looked on StyleFan, I had to order a pair. They are incredibly soft and comfortable and don't seem to be AS much of a lint magnet as I feared. But, I DO have a question about fit:

On me, the pants have horizontal wrinkly lines across the front pockets and zipper (exactly like what is pictured on the model of the brown pair). I am not sure how much tolerance I have for these as it seems to draw attention to an area I am already self-conscious about...

Will sizing up/down help? Or, is this a case where I need to either accept the lines or return them? My other cords do not have the lines, but they are either skinnies or wide legs, so the fit is different. The Everlanes fit great everywhere else, so I am hesitant to exchange them.

May we see nemosmom, by any chance? I feel that I cannot advise you accurately without a visual because whiskering is a tricky case by case thing. Could be the high-rise as Phoebe suggests, or the wrong thigh and hip fit.

I like the fit, too. I'm tempted by those cords but having gone over my budget for 2020 I am hoping they're still available in January.

I am with you, nemosmom. I have a very low tolerance for bunching of fabric in the crotch area. If the fit is perfect everywhere else, then I doubt that sizing up or down is going to help much. At least that has been my experience. So I do think that you will either have to accept the lines or else return them.

I would wear them around the house a bit to see if the wrinkling gets worse as the fabric loosens up. If there is additional bunching after wearing them for a while, that might go over your threshold for what is acceptable.

Agree with Gigi, I don't think that that effect would change if you size up (the model in the picture has a similar llok).

The trousers are a good shape I like how they elongate your legs but the question is if you are happy to live with the horizontal lines across the front pockets and zipper .

@Gigi and minaminu: I worry that a larger size will bunch more and a smaller size will be too tight in the thigh and possibly cause wrinkles in the rear/back of leg. Pants are a pain to fit

I wonder, could you try another pair of those trousers in the current size? Maybe it is a matter of stitching ?

I had this same issue with some Talbot’s cords. In my case, sizing down (which yes, I was super worried they’d be too tight), fixed the problem. The rise in the longer size was a smidge too long, and that’s what was causing the bunchiness. I did get lucky though, since my local store had the full range of sizes. If I’d ordered on-line, I probably would have given up.

Not sure about the whiskering but I adore your balancing act ( might try one myself - problem with the lightning as well ).
Agree with idea of trying pants at home for 15 min or so - to see if there is more stretching happening ( possible size down then...) .

This is exactly why I do not tuck and make sure my tops are long enough to cover the crotch.

I see nothing wrong with the fit at all, but I have much wider hips than you do and can’t avoid this in any pants.

The fit on Style Fan was really perfect, honestly I find that the exception these days. Stretch has improved fit in some ways but not in others IMHO...I miss properly lined pant pants, but that's another discussion

My first reaction was honestly that they look great on you, I did not see a problem even as someone who is self conscious about that area and often prefers just to cover the whole thing! But on second glance, in the first photo it looks like there's actually excess fabric such that it's almost folding over? I would at least try a size down, you never know, they might be perfect. For reference, I think they're too tight on the model, so I'm not suggesting you aim for that look unless you like it. I just think it's possible a smaller size will work better for you without being super tight, or at the very least clarify for you whether these ones actually work or you're just unfortunately between sizes.

There is enough stretch to prevent them from bunching MORE, but I want to LOVE them... meh.

They look good otherwise, but it doesn’t sound like you will ever wear them as long as there is anything else clean. I wouldn’t feel right with that creasing either. We have a really good and inexpensive tailor here—Astrid recommended them. That’s where I’d be going with these, to ask if there was anything they could do.
