Yesterday I received a v-neck tee and a silk shirt. If you love silk but aren't looking for the high shine of silk charmeuse, I highly recommend these silk shirts. They have a velvety sheen rather than a high gloss, almost a sueded finish. The color palette is divinely muted and grown-up, and the button placement is such that I can wear the top two buttons open without any "sneak peeks."

I thought the V neck in the tee might be too low but when I put it on, it did not seem to be. It also did not give me the problem I often have with tees: perfect fit everywhere except for annoying horizontal lines from breast to breast. (I think that issue is about the drape of the fabric rather than sizing since those tees don't seem to be too small and are not exactly pulling, just sitting funny.)

Anyway, I've found a new retailer.

I love Everlane. Their slouchy cashmeres are perfect.

I did find either they run large or I am smaller than I think I am, because I need a small in most of their items.

Ooh, I've been eyeing the silk shirts and have a couple in my cart. Which one did you get? How is the sizing and the length?

Chiming in with my $0.02: Everlane uses tall, very thin fit models, so one has to keep that in mind when ordering.

For example, for the Ryan tee, the model is 5'9" with a 25-inch waist!
Not surprisingly, that tee hits 5'3" me (very unflatteringly) at the low hip.

I do like the v-necks and have heard good things about their non-tee products (as IK noted). The T-shirt material seems flimsy but has held up quite well.

I'm pretty sure I'm too large for their sizing, but I have drooled at their products several times

carambola, I got the dark purple ("Mulberry") silk shirt. When I opened it, I at first thought I had ordered a slate gray. When I realized it was purple, I was thrilled since that stony cool purple is hard to find and a good color for me.

I'm only 5'2", but have a typical torso on short legs. The shirttail hem hits me at the low hip -- just covering my bottom. I got an XS, which is my usual size, and it fits me correctly in the shoulder and sleeves, and I didn't notice any gapping between the buttons.

I haven't worn it for a full day yet, just a try on, but so far I'm very pleased.

Thanks for this. I've looked at their website since reading about them here. I like the shape of the u-neck on those tees -- deep rather than wide.

I am not sure how their sizing would work for me. I'm a 6-8 and it looks from their sizing chart like I'd be right in between their medium and large sizes. This is always tricky for me -- I'm narrow across the back, but my shoulders and bust are not small.

i ordered one of the vneck tees at the end of last summer. i really like the fabric, the v is a smidge lower than i would like, not low enough that i'm flashing the world, but low enough that i think about it.

Janet, I just received a u-neck and the neckline is super flattering. I would go with a M on this, if you're 6-8. The fit is already "relaxed". Unless you like very slouchy.

This is timely because I just ordered some basic white tees from them yesterday. I like to replace and update my white tees on a regular basis. I love how they tell you about the factory where the tees are made! I will report back on their fit and quality. At $15 per piece, you can't beat the price. Most US made tees are at least $40 if not $80.

Harkening back to the conversation about retailers and their sizing ranges - I would love to try Everlane, but their largest size is comparable to IIRC, a size 10. !!

I had not looked closely at their range of sizes, but it does seem ridiculous that they would stop at a size 10.

Isn't the typical American woman a 12 or 14? What sense does that make?

@Janet, I own one of their silk blouses from last season. You and I have similar fit challenges (small back, larger bust). Although the Everlane fit model is not as rectangular as J Crew's, the fit isn't going to be a slam dunk for our type

Here's my review: http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....ilk-blouse. Basically, I had to choose between fitting my shoulders (S) or fitting my bust (M) -- an unusual choice for an IT, who usually has to size up for her shoulders, not down! I typically wear an American size 6.

@carambola, the length was fine for a short-waisted 5'5" woman. My only other fit issue is that their rectangular fit model meant that there's not a lot of ease for my hips.

Ultimately I kept the small, use fashion tape to keep the placket together, and tuck the blouse if I'm feeling sensitive about my hips that day. As April says, the "hand" of the silk is magical (and, to answer the other question from my thread, the wearing the contrast blacket open ended up being a complete non-issue).

Seriously, I think they run big.

Maybe I have body dysmophia or something, because when I have to buy a S or XS, something is wrong with sizing. And I swim in their M.

I found their V-necks to fit smaller than the u-necks. I usually wear an 8 or 10 and the L was good for me for a slouchy V-neck. The L in the u-neck was swimming on me though.

I also love their v-neck tees and silk blouses. I do find the blouse tails to be on the long end of acceptable; I'm 5'2" with a long torso and it fits me similarly to April. The tees hold up really well through harsh wash/dry cycles (think industrial European dryers).

I did order a size S in the v-neck tee (last year's run) because they were out of XS in my preferred color, and it has a perfectly slouchy fit. Thinking about ordering more this spring in both XS and S.
