So I picked up the new Rag & Bone pajama jeans this week, and decided to keep them. Considered wearing them for the first time yesterday (Thursday), but right away deferred to Friday (today). Why? Well, here's the story. My first job at 16 years old was in a tiny little fabric store in the mall (basically a little bigger than a strip mall) in the small town where I grew up. Around the corner there was a costume shop/tuxedo rental shop. It was a dark, smoky, scary sort of little shop. I think the owner also did fortune telling on the side...that's the kind of atmosphere the place had. The owner was probably from eastern europe (I didn't know accents very well then) and was very gypsy-like (she jingled when she walked and swooshed through the door with full skirts and scarves). She was also into astrology. She told me if I had something new, to always wear it on a Friday so that I would love it forever. If I couldn't wear it Friday, the next best day would be Tuesday. But, she added, NEVER wear something new on a Monday or you won't like it for long. So would you believe that this little tidbit has stuck in my head ever since, and wouldn't you know I try pretty hard to stick with it (not always, but mostly). Call me crazy, but if someone tells me a superstition, I think why not? I'd actually prefer that people don't tell me superstitions b/c they are hard to blow off. My in-laws are quite superstitious and I mostly laugh them off (I can't keep up), but sometimes I've found myself turning the car around when I see a black cat cross the road down the block Anyone else heard of the Friday rule? Do you have any funny superstitions around clothing or otherwise?
