...completely outside of your usual color palette or style?

I keep looking at these darn Free People shoes. I never wear pink! But I do have a bag that would look really great with them. And I envision wearing those shoes with mid wash denim and a white top, or with black jeans and chambray, or pretty much anything in my summer palette of white-blue-black. I even put together an outfit from my closet in the Finds below, and I think it would be pretty darn cute.

I'm not even sure if they would work on me because my feet are slightly low-volume, but I may need to order them just to satisfy my curiosity.

Yes, I currently have that feeling for raw hem jeans, which is so unlike me. I normally like my jeans to look pristine for as long as possible.
As for the shoes, they are pink, but still very much your style.

What Sheryl said about raw hems. They are completely unexpected on an old lady. I once had an obsession with getting a tomato red summer jacket. I ended up with 4, none of which was quite right. That was when I made a shopping rule for myself. Don't buy it if you will keep looking.

Yes to pink shoes!!! And your styling ideas are perfect. My pink shoes are way less practical but still I had to have them. They make me sooooo happy, no regrets. I think I need your purse and I might get more wears out of my pink shoes.

Hehe, I ordered them! I figured I should at least give them a try. Jussie, great point about how the shape and the metallic edge them up. It's funny, these are available in a gorgeous color of green, which is much more expected for me, but I'm somehow more drawn to this particular pink.

Yes, all the time, but these don't seem like a stretch for you. I think you have really eye catching shoes, you wear beautiful strong colors regularly, and if these fit well they seem like they'd be fun to have. They're not really "pink shoes", they're much bolder than that.

Okay, any other pink shoes I might have questioned, but THESE pink shoes? Absolutely amazing. I am serious; they are incredibly comfortable and go with far more than you think they will.

I NEVER wear green, but I bought these shoes in metallic green (just the opposite of you and the pink). I adore them. I found they go with everything and I wear them all the time. They are stylish, high quality and comfortable. I'm so glad you ordered them; I think you will love them!

These shoes look great for you! The colour is deep and not too "girly" and it looks great with the bag. If you really want to go down the rabbit hole, take a look at Sevilla Smith -- that FP style always reminds me of the Sandy (I think Jenn got a pair last summer). I totally understand why you've been looking at these for over a year -- I've been looking at SS shoes for almost two years now and still haven't bitten. I can't figure out quite what niche they'd fill in my wardrobe, but they are just so gorgeous.

LaP, I remember looking at the Sevilla Smith site before — they look amazing! I think sometimes these long-standing sartorial crushes can lead to wardrobe favorites if we finally follow our heart.

Janet, those shoes are a rock & roll way to do pink. I think they could be wonderful in an outfit that does the "hard & soft" contrast thing!

Yes, I've had moments like these. I just ordered these j/slides that are more girly than I usually go and contrast with my usual shoe trend (functional, tactical), but they should look right at home next to my red embroidered loafers.

I'm doing some of this in our little house, too. Sunshine likes rustic, I like modern/minimal. So far we've blended these two disparate styles fairly well. I have, however, thrown some wild cards into the mix there. The couch we bough, the headboard I'm wanting, some throw pillows and blankets, comforter sets; they're all a bit over the top with ornate details, luxe textures, and/or pop-art colors/prints. (Yes, when it's all finished I'll share pics with y'all and see if you think it works or not.)

Those are both great shoes, Cindy! I’m eclectic in my tastes. I love the clean, modern, and minimal aesthetic (in fashion and decor), but I also love beautiful detailing — prints and patterns and colors and textures — so we have a mix in our house as well. I think my ideal balance is using clean lines but incorporating detail in the form of beautiful prints and textiles.

Well I’m glad you ordered the shoes because when you mentioned them somewhere else, I thought the shoes/bag made a fabulous pair. They would be perfect with an otherwise neutral outfit.

I just ordered a Ted Baker scarf in pinks and greens that might work with an olive leather jacket that I have. I love the jacket’s color, but it’s been hard finding anything in that cool olive. I’d already been adding a little pink to my wardrobe.

JAileen, that scarf is beautiful, and I can envision it looking perfect on you with that jacket! I think the scarf will brighten and "springify" the jacket really nicely. Olives are sometimes a tricky match. I have a couple of scarves that have tones of olive in them and find them really useful.

I can definitely see you in these shoes . They are unique and definitely a statement item... and a great pairing with the bag. If I had to play devil's advocate (surprise, surprise) I'd worry about the longevity of a shoe that combined a unique shape and a unique colour......and how the metallic leather will show wear and tear around the toe. (speaking from experience)

That’s a “Janet pink”. They are interesting aren’t they? Angie posted a few other metallic coloured shoes this year that I am strangely enamoured with. They all have a bit of a crackle effect that I like.

The only solution to your obsession is to order them. I think they would look great for your style and this pink would fit right in. I hope they are comfy and you love them. The color is fab and not at all like the pale and forgettable pinks that we see everywhere.
