Aquamarine, I think juxtaposition is key for making items like this work for my life! We may have holiday gatherings to attend, that will likely not be terribly dressy, and I do like that this can glam up a casual look into something more festive-casual. I do tend to fall for things that are a bit dressier than my life is, BUT I came to realize that they skewed dressy in a “going to work” way, not a “I’m going out and threw on this sassy little topper” way. Instead of a tailored silk blouse, a drapey sequined tank or duster will probably convey the easy casual glam I’d like to go for.
Elizabeth, I want to see the velvet jacket! I think they can be dressed down really nicely with jeans and a tee or simple top. What color is it?
Nemosmom, I know what you mean about loving something but then being too chicken to wear it. I want to make sure I have the courage to be all “look at me, sequins, baby!!”
LaP and Synne, I like “relaxed glam” as a phrase and an aspirational style. Making note!
MaineLady, yes, I sometimes have a good laugh after a try-on, and that’s fine too! But sometimes I surprise myself and come home with an oversized leather vest, or a sequin duster! LOL
Levina, that’s a great coat! Easy to see why you had to have it. I can see it complementing different styles well.
Rachy, LOL
Slimcat, yes, I have been lured by a crazy vest too, and I don’t wear it a ton, but it’s a high happiness factor item when I do wear it. (See find below)
Gigi, yes, good observation about a shadow style! Glam is sort of a shadow or subset of my style. I guess this duster is just a bit more sparkle than my comfort zone usually allows!
Bonnie, that skirt is so pretty! I can see why you got it. Would love to see how you style it!
Lisa, YES. I could see you rocking this.
Jaime, I’m not usually a sparkly/sequin person either, or when I do that kind of thing its usually in black or navy blue. But this silver just spoke to me.
Joy, yes! I’ll definitely try this with graphic tees. I like the whole way they styled this but for me would do booties instead of pumps.
Rebekah, I think toppers and scarves are the best for this kind of “crazy” item — you can keep the rest of the outfit in your comfort zone and amp it up with the signature piece. I’d love to see that collection — all of those things sound amazing!
Thanks, all!
