Ever Buy Something You Found in the Fitting Room?

I did recently! The ironic thing is that it was a style I probably wouldn't have thought to try. But there it was in my dressing room, where a previous customer had left it--a casual hooded sleeveless tee shirt. Mind you, I wasn't shopping for a top; I was actually shopping for a dress to wear to my nephew's wedding. I thought, "That's cute", and then noticed it was my size. So, of course I tried it on!

Anyway, it fit really well, and I liked how I looked and felt in it--a lot. So, after deliberating a while, I bought it, figuring I could always return it if it seemed like a bad decision later.

But the truth is, I love it and have worn it a lot since bringing it home. I'm getting a lot of joy from it, but I would have walked past it in the store without noticing. This makes me wonder if there are other whole categories of clothing and styles which I might love if only I a) noticed them and b) tried them!

I haven't done that but I did something close--picked up a top while I was waiting in line for the fitting room at Zara. The top was just hanging there, the only one of its kind. I ended up buying it and loving it--Angie and many of the other YLFers really loved that top when I posted an outfit with it.

Your top sounds great too! It's always good to try on different styles--you never know what you'll like until you try it on your body!

I have never done that but someone did it to me! I tried on a blouse and went out of the dressing room to look in the larger mirrors. I tend to do that a lot. I went back to my room and took it off. I had decided to buy it. It was on sale and the last one left in my size. I tried on a skirt and left the room to look in the other mirrors. I ended up asking the sales person to try to find the skirt in a larger size. It took her about 5 minutes. I just waited by the entrance until she got back with the bigger skirt and tried it on. Then I got dressed and went to pick up the items I wanted to purchase. The blouse was gone! I looked all over the room and in the mirrored area. Nope. So i asked the salesperson of she had taken it. She said she hadn't. The salesperson asked at the desk and another woman had bought it! I hadn't even put it back on the hanger. And I am positive I left it in the room. And once my sister caught someone taking a sweater out of her cart at TJ Maxx.

Oh my goodness, ANNA--you experienced the other side of it, didn't you?! That must have been an unwelcome surprise. People clearly think you and your sister have great taste!

The day I was there, it was very slow, and I was in the room a good 30 minutes trying on dresses, so I'm sure I didn't inadvertently purchase someone else's treasure!

Well, it also taught me never to leave my purse in the dressing room even if I am only a few steps away. But I had to laugh, she must have really wanted that blouse!

I have to chuckle, because while I have not actually purchased clothes I found in the fitting room, I have definitely tried them on if they were in my size! The said items didn't fit, however. I'm glad you got lucky!

Not in the fitting room, but I've asked to try on an item racked on the rail the SA's use for items that have been rejected and are due to be put back on the floor.

But Anna, WHOA!!! That is unsettling! Or maybe not. Maybe that person saw you in that blouse and just had to have it because you made it look so sensational!

I've never bought anything that I found in a fitting room but I have examined items and gone to see if they were available in my size.

I've tried stuff on, but not purchased.
Anna, I can't believe someone actually did that!
But I do tend to leave my purse in the fitting room while I look in the 3 way mirror -especially if I am shopping at an odd time and no one else is in there. I won't be doing that again.

Nope, but maybe I should start shopping more in stores. 95% of what I buy is online. So, if it was in the fitting room, it'd already be mine!
