Evening event for work ~ boots yay or nay?

I have an event tonight for work (it's a dinner 100+ people). I think these boots are all wrong with this skirt....the skirt meets the boots (doesn't show any of my knee really at all) But i would be wearing dark tights. Is this the wrong height combination skirt/boots?

its hard to tell with the angle of the photo ,could you take one from a bit more distance for an overall effect?but having said that you have nice legs seems ashame to cover them,whats the climate like in Colorado ? is it spring because the boots will might look too heavy imho.the skirt looks nice with the colour top you have on.

For spring, I think the boots not so much. In the cold seasons, I think it would be fine.

Given that it's 40 degrees, wear the boots. I do prefer a little bit of leg showing between boots and skirt, so if you have slightly shorter boots that might be preferable. But don't wear pumps and freeze.

My feeling is: if the weather can't be bothered to be spring, you don't have to dress like spring either.
