Espadrille post edited - WITH poll

I have some brown and some red wedge espadrilles and am thinking of adding a natural beige pair. I know nude shoes are all the rage, but I have no occasion for pumps in my life really. I think these will be equally versatile, color wise. Do you think these could fill a hole in my shoe wardrobe? The only other light colored pairs I have are flat sandals and my somewhat darker strappy, almost cage, wooden platforms. (they are all in the foreground on the right of the shoes pic)

I'm trying hard not to duplicate similar items and find I don't always know when it really will serve a different purpose than its sister items already in the closet

The responses to my similar blazer question last week saved me from unneccesary duplication, so I do take these opinions to heart! Thanks.

I am thinking of wearing them with my pink & white striped maxi dress, white linen a-line skirt, and white bermudas for starters.

yay - they will fill a hole in your summer shoe wardrobe, buy and enjoy
nay - you can wear the pairs you have, don't duplicate in a new color

Yours are prettier, especially with the open toe, but the ones I like have a lower heel (which I need).

Rosee, I like yours too! Same price even . . . but I think I can do the 3 1/2" no problem and I do like the little peep toe part

I vote yay. I had a pair similar to that I had to retire last year and I've been trying to replace them. I couldn't find them exactly (most were too high) but I got these in tan and love them;

I also ordered the LE pair (in navy) so I hope they work. I saw some interesting Andre Assous espadrilles (and some are peep toe) on Myhabit today for $65 and there is a $25 off so they'd be $40 (just for some comparison...)

These would be the perfect nude heel when you need something to help your (already long) legs look longer! The red and the brown can't do that. I vote Yay!

Yay. They don't look too similar to your other shoes, and give that you live in a sunny, warm climate, you'd get much more use out of them than say, me.

They certainly don't look at all like the ones that you already have and I think, considering where you live, that you would get a lot of use out of these - PLUS, they would look GREAT on your beautiful legs. I say YAY!

Since you're concerned about duplication and have mentioned before that you're trying to do a smaller wardrobe, I'm sorry to vote nay. The sandals on the far right and far left of your pic are low-contrast enough to work as nudes (and the leftmost have a super-low, leg-lengthening vamp to boot). Plus you already have two other espadrille styles. Plus I don't remember seeing any of these current shoes recently, so you either have some old shoe friends to get reaquainted with or you don't like the platforms as much as you think you do.

Rae and Kate, thanks for weighing in on the other side I realize that since my bad ankle sprain, I've only braved about 1 or 1 1/2 inch heels. I do see in WIW pics from before the sprain that I paired my heeled sandals with dresses quite a bit. Hmmm, could that be why I'm not wearing dresses as much so far this year?! The other sandals all have enough wear that it's noticeable . . . but my ankle is a reality for *this* year. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Heather you crack me up!! *The* dress stubbornly won't go down in price, even though it's not selling! Aargh. It has gone down another fifty cents on Overstock for a total one dollar discount now ha ha! In about a week I'm going to give up stalking and seize the moment. I firmly know I would wear it NOW unlike some of my 'thinking ahead' purchases this year like boots and jeans right before summer.

As much as I love enabling, your fantasy vs. reality thread is going to be stuck in my head for a while and (like Rae) I'm going to be voting against some things that look great but aren't really necessary or matched up with your day to day dressing reality. With heels, this is definitely from my own experience. I'm in love with all of my heels, but I rarely have an occasion to wear them. I pretty much have to give myself pep talks when I do wear them because, unless I'm going to something fancy, I'm likely to be the only one in heels. Example: "It's not absurd to wear heels to a movie theater! Even if I'm the only one! And even if we're seeing the Big Lebowski! YOU CAN DO THIS KATE!"

Kate LOL! I do move back to Tahoe hopefully by year's end. It's funny though - because back home I wear sneakers for a work uniform, I relish the opportunity to put on (stable) heels outside of work. I've been caught in premium denim and heels playing croquet at the park by the lake, to play an impromptu softball practice (borrowing someone's sweats on site) etc . . . Of course, these would be off limits for 6 months of snow as well. This is part of the BIG problem that I have with moving back and forth. My mentality slowly shifts depending on where I've been for a while. Sigh.
For now I'm leaving them alone. Firstly, I need to be healed enough to wear the ones I have. What if I can no longer go over 3 inches??? Also, I think I would better fit a 7 and these are 7.5. Whenever there is toe slide, my size shrinks
Thank you for making me think things through a little. I NEED help like this! If I come across a 7, and I've been regularly donning my heels by then, I will revisit the idea. I did have a beige low pair I loved to death a few years ago and never got around to replacing so I know the style suits me. Until then, I'll be (sadly) putting these on ice.

They're very different. If they're not pricey, I'd get 'em, wear 'em to death, and toss them before you move.

Another nay vote, but only because of your current ankle situation; if you find, next summer, that you still want a pair of these and can wear them I know there will be options around (they usually seem to be anyway)

Aha, so it's the ankle that is keeping you out of the higher heels - major bummer. But yes, please do wait until you are fully healed and know for sure how high you can go. If (heaven forbid, seriously!) you have to replace all your high shoes with lower ones, you will need quite the shoe fund to do it.
