Enjoy reading your profiles

As I am new here, I am trying to get to know at least some of you a little bit more. And to that end, reading your profiles (as well as your comments, of course) is useful.

The information in your profiles is interesting, inspirational and even amusing (like when someone has listed "sleeping" as one of her interests ). And I find it much easier to simply click on an icon than trying to find that person in the incredibly long thread "Who's Who?" ...

I understand that there can be many different valid reasons for not providing any information, but I want to thank all those of you who do.

How about YOU? Do you enjoy reading others' profiles? And do you regularly update your profile?

Yes, I DO enjoy reading other people's profiles.
And I really like it when people take the time to write something thoughtful.

I haven't done anything with mine in a while, but I've also been dealing with some health stuff that has kept me off the internet. Now I'm going to have to go read profiles and see who has sleeping as an interest LOL

same here... I don't remember what's in my profile! Will have to re-read it and also read others' profiles.

PS Just re-read mine. That's hilarious. I should eat my words. When I wrote it maybe two years ago I said I never bought anything with a high waist. Well, I recently posted a pic of a beloved, new-ish high-waisted pair of pants! This thread is a great reminder that we change--and that's a good thing.

Hi, I often click on the profiles and sometimes the past posts of the person to get a better idea in my head of them. It's just helpful as I am interacting quite a lot. I've read about the person who likes sleeping too! I thought that was great and amusing. Just searched for a few possibilities but I can't find them. If I find them any time can tell you all! Or if they read this they can admit to it!
I updated mine after my birthday in March to change my age by a year. Which reminds me that I read a post by someone I'd not seen before the other day whose profile said she was 71 but whose post said she was 76. So those of us who admit to our ages should remember that. I find it a bit helpful to know someone's general area they live in just as it relates to their hemisphere, their climate, and their culture.Cheers Jenni

lisap, right now I am in Norway. Most of June I will be in Denmark. And I am closely connected to Sweden as well.

Jenni, your comment is a great reminder to those of the fabbers who have stated their age in their profile.

By the way, if you like to inform people how old/young you are, how about simply stating your year of birth, which will never change (unless you're in Hollywood )?

I agree with Jenni that it can be helpful to know in which area someone lives. When commenting, it is easy to presume that the person who asked for advice or opinions lives in the same corner of the world as yourself, which often is not the case. Of course, this should not prevent anyone from posting or commenting. However, it is good to keep in mind that this large forum is highly international. And the international aspect is one of this forum's valuable assets, as it helps widen our horizons and in some cases provides very specific, helpful information.

I do enjoy reading profiles, especially if someone is new, or if their location/climate/lifestyle will help me to make a more informed reply. Of course, you've just nudged me into reading yours, Cat!

I don't post pictures here, so I feel the least I can do is to give other members a little background information.

I don't usually look at them. I haven't gone back to edit mine, except last August after my aunt passed. I realized what a huge influence she had on my style and I wanted to acknowledge her, so I added her to my profile as my main style icon. I keep my style descriptors there also. It's a handy reference, in case I forget!

It's nice to know those profiles are looked at! I do occasionally click in for more info on someone. But I am sure mine is also out of date, as my tastes and outlook have evolved over the last few years. Must look!! And will have a look at yours too!

I have a feeling a lot of profiles are getting updated right now! I'm always disappointed when I read an interesting post, then want to learn more about the writer and there's nothing there. But then some people are more private than others, I guess.

Off to have a look at mine to see if it needs updates; maybe I need to add sleeping, too!

Yes, I do read the profiles. I update mine every 6 months, and recently changed up my avatar/picture. (The one before was a favourite picture taken during a vacation in Steinvick, Norway in 2010!). The more recent one was taken on my back deck fall 2016.

Besides all the fashion fun, I always enjoy when there is a bout of 'round the world weather comparison on the forum.

Hello and welcome! Actually I don't think I have updated my profile since I first created it, almost 7 years ago! I have looked at profiles from time to time, this is a good reminder to update it.

RunCarla, good idea to update your information every 6 months.
I hope you enjoyed your vacation in Steinvik, Norway, Temperatures can be very low in that valley (Østerdalen). Some years ago, when I visited a place further north in the valley in the end of June, it was actually snowing! Some of my friends insisted on having a barbecue party anyway, so we bravely put on our warmest clothes and tried to hide under umbrellas while waiting for hot sausages with melting snow on.

As for updating, there is very little info in your profile ... But perhaps there is more in the blog that you link to? I haven't had time to check it yet, but will do so soon.

I tweaked mine - but interesting how most of it has remained consistent since I first joined the forum. I hope this means I am achieving my style goals more consistently:)

I refer to them when there is a post about climate/appropriate clothing or similar mostly to find out broadly where someone is based.

I haven't changed mine since I joined YLF. I never look at it. I will work on it soon. I do sometimes check someone's to see where they are from. I have never looked through the thread Who's Who. It is incredibly long. How would you find anyone?

I've only looked at the profiles once or twice. Never thought about it! But now I have a new way to occupy myself with YLF! Lol. Other than hitting the refresh button all the time. Lol.

Rachylou, you seem to have found two great solutions to your and anyone's leisure problems: (1) getting some more sleep, and (2) looking at others' profiles.

By the way, The Cat, I'm another fan of Scandinavia (even though I've never been). I'm a fan of the design, the food, the history, the landscape, the music... Grieg is one of my favorites! One day I hope I'll get to visit.
