I need to stop commenting . I'm feeling all friendly and personal and confessional and need to stop that immediately . Also , second glass of wine .

Lol Lisa. I'm glad you talked about consignment and donation because I have similar tendencies and that's a great way of looking at it...paying it forward.

Now you and Suz are enabling me with the Camilla harems...lol. They would look fab though...I'm seeing them in a totally different light.

I think we should all put on our harem pants and pour a third glass of wine. The patio is lovely tonight. We have fireflies here....

Lisa I'm thrilled you are happy with the harems! They are one of my prized garments lol. I can also vouch for their wearability, comfort and quality. Cannot wait to see you style yours...and your newly blonded hair. I love you as a blonde:)

Oh Deborah ! Hi! We so rarely connect in a timely manner because of the rather massive time difference I'm up late on a Saturday night ostensibly reading the final book in Stephen King's latest trilogy . I much prefer seeing myself as blonde with roots . I felt really dead with a flat , one dimension hair colour . Works so much better with black - right ?

You're not alone in the guilty feelings. I do tho believe that someone else enjoying them is better than say, throwing them out or letting them sit there. I do buy things from eBay too, so manage my guilt by knowing I at least didn't pay an arm and a leg for some things. See if there is a place to donate for women entering the work force there, that may work well for some of the dressier pieces.

Lisa, can I just say, "see? we told you so" about the harems, in the friendliest, most ribbing way. I'm happy for you and glad you like them!!

You're right k2 . I would never throw good clothes out - ever . The Salv Army is an institution I believe does good work here where I live and makes their store accessible and affordable to all . And yes to women who need work clothes - important to consider .

Yes, they are really like a cool skirt with tiny legs. I'm much more at ease in them than I expected. Pics please!

Ha! to pics. All of these forum freaks lately have killed my desire to post pictures. Not that they can't steal old photos, but still . I'll be taking the pants to Toronto soon for my one-week fashion blow-out (big industry trade show where I want to look totally bang-on ) and hope to have them figured out by then. Want to find the perfect lightweight sweater to go-with. Am on my semi-annual spending binge putting together the perfect collection of clothes for this event. $$ .

Wait - Una, we haven't seen you in yours, have we??

Thanks for sharing Lisa! We have a battered women's shelter that did a plea for professional clothes a while back and I made a HUGE donation. Just now I am reminded of this and I'm going to be contacting them again. I pass tons of stuff along to my family (my Mom already claimed one of my purses) and I also regularly donate to the a Salvation Army. I just always wonder if I shouldn't be putting the effort into selling some of my cast offs.

Fantastic!

Eek, I am back on the EF harem pants yearning that I had managed to put to the back of my mind. I may well need to accept that I simply order from the US.

I am super interested to know how you style them, and I love the way Deborah styles hers.

Jane - I had a YLF member who lives in the US buy and send me mine. She mailed them - and there were no duties or other taxes. They are very inexpensive at The Rack at the moment. I have yet to see a pair here in Canada that was in a fabric worth spending money on . Most are cheap and trendy/nasty - and what's the point in buying cheap ones when you know they are going to look bad on ? I think that's where spending money on a very different garment that's of superior quality is worth it. I'll be shopping this coming week for "the perfect" black or grey sweater (of course now that I need one I'll not find it) .

I can't believe I missed this entire thread.

First of all : Lisa, those harems are made for you. All I can say is, drat! I would have loved to score a pair.

Also - hear, hear on the donating to SA. I've drive consignment a couple of times and is more trouble than its worth. At least I know my clothes are going somewhere that will actually be useful. Though I do feel guilty periodically for giving so much away.
FWIW, I feel the same way about library books - I have probably put many librarians' kids through college surf my late fees...
