I'm back - after a lengthy dinner & drinks watching the olympics and then a long drive in miserable rain trying to find a concert that was supposed to happen but we couldn't find the venue. DH is snoring now, and I still have a tiny bit of steam left. (I never seem to sleep as good as he does).
When I wrote this post, I had several items in mind, and the one that stands out glaringly among the rest: a white linen dress from BR. It's lined and has a lot of structure. It's gorgeous and I do love it but the weather has sucked so much in Boston (tonight someone told me this is the rainiest summer in 40 years; DH commented that we might as well be living in Seattle.
I would've taken it to Paris - and it would've been nice and cool on the few 100 degree days we had - but white just wouldn't have cut it on the metro. I'm not sure I'm giving up on this dress yet: next summer may be entirely different. Or it would work if we went someplace tropical for a getaway.
There's a shift dress - black with white polka dots (all in different sizes - large and small) - that I meant to wear in Paris but never did, because our routine included frequent picnicking/lounging in gardens and on the Seine; the dress was too form-fitting to be able to lounge on the ground with any sort of decorum! I think it will stay however and I will find use for it someday, since it fits so nicely and is fairly classic cut.
I have a pair of BR seersucker navy and white striped walk shorts I thought I'd get more use out of. I did force myself to wear them before our Paris trip - and I did like them, but not enough to take on the trip. However, I am going to try to squeeze in another wear or two (nice change from denim or white clams).
I have an orange sleeveless collared shirt from AT that I bought after being inspired by someone here who had something similar. I have worn it only once. I think it is lovely, and fits great, but there's something about it - maybe it's more appropriate if I worked in an office and not at home? This one I'm definetly going to try to wear at least once or twice more.
And I do have a few ATL tops that are definetly more Spring than summer. I try to wear them, but they are too hot when it's humid here. Unfortunately, we barely had a spring and seemed to jump right into a wet-yet-hot, yucky summer.
There are two skirts I haven't worn at all. One, I think, is too "work like" for my current lifestyle. The other I have tried on and *almost* worn on several occasions, but ditched at last minute. I think I need to just choke it up and wear it and see how it works.
Then there's a lot of things from past seasons that I haven't worn at all this year. One exception is the navy top I wore on the plane in Paris (and actually wore again with the BR skirt). That's definetly a keeper. The rest... may need to be culled.
I *did* wear my white jeans! Just not as much as I expected. They were perfect for a work occasion (off-site meeting). But too hot for most days here. I am not giving up on them - they will work great next spring. Just took me too long to find them and then get them hemmed.
There's more but that's just off the top of my head. I have been trying to rotate through everything. Just certain things I keep passing up even though it's next on the rotation list, which is why I started this thread!
