End of Sept 3/4 2019 update and WIW

Hi All

It is the last day of September so I thought I would update my progress.

My goal was 30 or under purchases for the year.
I have made 29 additions so the rest of the year will be lean. In September I added four pieces - three from the Dress for Success Sale, and a new midi dress. The new purchases are in bold below.

A couple of weeks ago I asked feedback about a tee and blazer. In the end I returned both and exchanged for the pink midi below. The blazer was not exciting me and I wanted to be thrilled. A bit of a wildcard but a new midi was on my list....

Whatever you are doing is certainly is leading to a couple of fantastic outfits. The cut of that jacket is excellent and both dresses look just right. I like your local and sustainable tastes!

Thanks Shevia - there are some large corporates in there but I try and buy them from a local retailer.

I would like to thrift a larger percentage next year - this year 9/29 are second hand. For me I would like to get to about 50%.

Those two outfits are so good! You’re looking great this year.

This is the first year I’ve kept track of why I edit things out. My leading factor is wear, but I lump stains, tears, pills, fading, stretching, etc all into that category. it’s so frustrating when things don’t last the way you want them to!

You are doing well and still have a place for the beach kaftan or sork pants.
I am slowing down as I always find some great things for myself as I shop for holiday gifts. I have wants but they are not needs and there is little room in my closet. I do want to replace some basic winter sweaters and maybe get a puffer coat in a color. Thank you for posting your progress.
Both your dress outfits are wonderful it the colors of the second are most striking on you. I want both bags.

Good job Sally. I started to get slightly interested in purchases again until I looked at my summer lists... because I like everything I have and end up with too much for summer because it’s my fave. And then I thought if I waited at least one more day, I would have bought zilch in September which would make me feel virtuous! Kind of silly really. (Anyway I did buy earrings and necklace in September so who am I kidding?)
It’s great that Tuesday let you exchange the blazer! I thought it was final sale?
I am getting back my unsold consignment stuff on Wednesday
In the end only one silk skirt sold out of the 6 clothing items and 2 pairs shoes that I sent to the fancy vintage store. I am going to bring the things back in for now and have another think. I’m not ready to just donate them I think. Some still fit and since 80s is now trending even more I dunno...

You look fabulous in both outfits. I will have to try my witchery jacket (similar to yours) with a dress. I tend to wear it with jeans. It looks great with the Bailey.

And you are so disciplined. Do you really need nothing for summer? I always need tees because most of mine don’t last more than 2 seasons (and look worn after 1). I’ve decided to stock up this summer - even though I find them boring - because I wear them everyday. I ended up ordering these.

Yes Bijou - the Bailey dress feels a bit dated without the jacket now but it is a good dress on me (diagonal lines!!). I am wearing the midi today but also having a few issues with styling!

Brooklyn - the black boots are ankle boots and they are a good fit. Super comfy but very soft leather and prone to marking so I don't wear them on my "workshop days" Purchased from Zomp. And I will probably add a tee or two if I come across one that I like..........I am not that restrained:)

Jenni - interesting about the consignment stuff - I have had much more luck buying than selling at consignment. And Tuesday had confusing labelling and different rules for sale (mine) and final sale. Non sale can be refunded, sale can be swapped, and final sale is final. The blazer was nice but the fit was not perfect and you need that in a blazer. Arms a little too short and length too.

Opaline - thanks!! It was a long post.... I like the wrap dress and am looking forward to wearing it with my lighter boots and maybe even 70s sandals. But it was too cold yesterday....

Joy - good luck with a coloured puffer - I could see you in a red shade or maybe even an icey blue?

Jenn- it is interesting. Stains are annoying for me- I mostly can accept wear and tear as in the most these are loved pieces that have served me well. This year about a third have been pieces that I am ''over'' - two jackets were sold, and the balance are off to the charity shop. If I am honest I think three or four of those would be in demand and a few will not be........
