Emerald, stripes, and leopard print copycat outfit

I loved the combination of this marbled emerald and black dress paired with the leopard print pumps very much a couple weeks ago, and really wanted to try the color pairing again. Then I remembered this Wardrobe Oxygen outfit that originally made me want to leap to purchase the Olivia Moon chevron striped dress, and opted to try a "Kari summer version" of the outfit.

I love Alison's bright pink coat as it's a very unexpected, bright color pairing; however, I'm really not a hot pink girl, so I decided to use cobalt blue as my bright instead. (I love wearing this handbag with emerald.) Finally, I popped on a wide brown braided belt and my white watch, and that was that.

I tell you, these pumps are truly bringing out the animal in me! I've gone from no animal print pumps and hardly any patterned shoes at all to constantly wanting to wear one of these two animal print pairs.

When most of us are swimming in our boyfriend jeans, you come up with these lovely and perfect outfits that defy YLF environmental norm. The colors, patterns and silhouettes are so refreshing. Krista, the leopard shoes are actually low pumps (1.5 inches), not flats. They look flat due to the angle of the photo, though, don't they?

CocoLion, what a generous and supportive comment. I'm basking in your words right now. I have had a post mulling on the back burner for a while about how to respond when mainstream style isn't going your way - in my case, the trend is to move away from dresses and towards trousers and boyfriend jeans, neither of which are remotely friendly to my frame. I'm not even into wearing my bootcuts right now as they aren't fitting me too well (my fault, not the jeans'.) I've been responding by adopting the trends that I can easily wear with dresses or skirts instead, and being willing to stand out a little bit in a sea of pants. It feels good to know that there is still something fashion-forward about these outfits even though I'm perhaps not 100% on trend. I guess that the tide of fashion moving away from what I love has made me explore what I want my own style to be a bit more deeply.

Sveta, I try to rotate and share. The mustard handbag came out to play again today. I think that Lady Mustard will work VERY well with my new leather jacket, so once it cools down I expect her to make an appearance more often.

Kari I think sometimes the question is do I want to look trendy or stylish (or both). And in the midst of BF jeans and Slouchy Pants you looks are still certainly current and stylish. Great combo! I don't think I would have thought to try the leopard shoes with the dress but it is fun and quirky and works.

Deborah, that's a very wise point. Riding ahead of the trend curve also hasn't been one of my major style priorities, so I'm happy to look current and even quirky even if I'm not necessarily reflecting The Latest Big Thing. I'm happy to let others be trendsetters most of the time.
