Feeling heartened by Angie's and Janet's recent posts, I thought I'd share my own version. I generally avoid dresses and shorts because I don't feel comfortable exposing my legs. Part of it has to do with upbringing; part of it the hair maintenance (or lack thereof) that's expected; and part of it the fact that I feel it's not one of my most flattering features. Shorts and minis appear shorter on my legs because of my long femurs, even when they haven't reach the halfway point on the thigh.

My sister-in-law is getting married in the summer and wants those near and dear to match her colour scheme. On a whim, I tried this dress on. The bodycon silhouette and the short length--nevermind the nude-for-me colour, which I never wear--was initially really jarring to see, but I'm getting used to it. She wants me to wear this outfit, and to march with my SO down the aisle, but I haven't yet reached the stage of feeling comfortable with being scrutinized by 100s of people from all angles simultaneously. Still, I might consider a version of this dress in a more flattering colour for future events.
