Elle's top 10 trends for spring 2012

Angie's list is more focused and clearly thought out. As someone who rarely wears dresses or even skirts, I found it hard to relate to the Elle list. I like the idea of bird prints though! But no more midriff baring looks! for me! The last time this look came around, what was it, 10-15 years ago, I participated because I still had the flat abs on my side, but alas no more.

Very interesting! I agree on the matte satin and the bird prints. I think I could even go for a few baroque flourishes with the right application. I would also agree that Angie's list is better. I would say that it is a better prediction of what we will actually be wearing, rather than an editorial view on what's hot.

Think about combining all 10 things into ONE DRESS. It would be hilarious.

An abstract baroque digital print of under-the-sea birds in pastel colours in matte satin with drop waist and peplum hem.

OK, I love the idea of digital prints -- I so want to make clothing out of my artwork! And I like the bird prints and maybe a baroque flourish or a little abstract art.

But pastels on me, yuck. Same for dropped waists. The closest I'll get to a peplum will probably be the little one on the Hinge leather jacket I bought at NAS. And I am definitely beyond the years for a bared midriff, unless it's a bikini and I'm on a tropical beach!

...just like the matte satin and the bird prints ...but not how they showed it. The clothes were terrible but I like the format of the presentation.

I looked at the larger slideshow and I have to confess, the pastels weren't that bad. They were nice and clear instead of the muddy ones we usually think of for pastels, and they all continued to make good use of the color-blocking trend by mixing up some intriguing combinations. I am a bold and bright color fan, but I think I might be checking some pastels out next spring.

I'm totally on board with everything but the mid-section highlighting, the pastels, and the matte satin :). Bring on the color and pattern!
