EF tunic - styling thoughts? - YouLookFab Forum

Emerson Fry that is, not the "usual" EF :). I also got the long jet sweater, it arrived today. And I have to say, I decided to order, maybe even DID order, this before I realized Una and gryffin both have it. So I'm NOT a lemming!! That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

Anyhoo... I waited a little too long to hit the buy button, and the size I was going to order disappeared. I emailed them for some measurements, and felt fairly confident that the size down would still work... in fact, maybe even better. Too oversized with my shoulders can be a LOT of sweater So here it is.The quality of this is amazing, and it feels so wonderful on. It's wool, but not remotely itchy.

This is not a K/R, as it's definitely staying, but I'd love your thoughts on styling. And I realize it's pretty hard to see anything because of all the black...
1. Motto skirted leggings. It didn't work well with the EF ones, as they were pretty much the same length.
2. Lycee leggings. This felt a little too much like a short dress with skimpy tights... but I thought I'd show it anyway, with this scarf. Maybe high boots would be better?
3. Skinny jeans and booties.
4-5. My favourite BR pans, with and without a necklace.
6-7. Danier leather leggings, with and without a scarf.
8. Cobalt/blue ON pixie ankle pants. Showing mainly to show the proportions of the boots and sweater together.

Thoughts? Does this work ok as a long sweater, even though it's not so much an oversized long sweater? Any other styling ideas? Obviously there is a lot of mix and matching to be done here.

Nicely styled Elizabeth. My favorites are #3 and #8. I think #1 with the tall boots could be fun, too. #4/5 might look better with lower vamped footwear so we get the full effect of the fun pant. Are the leggings in #2 like legging leggings or are they more of a coated pant?

I think all your looks work. The sweater's proportions are perfect to my eye, which granted may not be the most hip or current. All I know is I took one look at your pictures and just loved how confident and comfy you look. Wonderful outfits!

Aida, they are leggings leggings. Pleather in front, normal in back. They haven't seen much love since I got the Danier leather leggings, which are more like a skinny pant, and I feel better in, but I think they still have a spot in my closet. Perhaps with the taller boot?

Hmm I'd probably skip them in place of the Danier leather leggings in that case, unless they are a nice substantial fabric in which case they look just fine. Like the idea of taller boots with them, a little more glam. Do you have any lightweight tunics that are a little longer than this sweater which could be layered underneath? That could also be fun with these leggings and the tall boots.

Has a great shape. I'd totally basically wear it as a sweater over everything and anything. With chunky shoes... White kicks!

Thanks again Aida. I love your ideas. I'm totally fine keeping these leggings for things that need more of a tight legging... but will also try them with the higher boots. Just trying to wear my stuff, you know? :). And no, no longer tunics that would be the right shape, unfortunately.

Elizabeth - Wow, wow, wow! The sweater looks wonderful on you!! I adore all your iterations - but most favorite is number 2!! I love the leather leggings with the scarf so beautiful with your hair and complexion. Isn't this THE best oversized tunic sweater ever?!! I love how she changes the run of the knit on the sleeves, so elegant, plus it's heavy and substantial but so comfortable. Also the neckline is just uber flattering, something about the sizing and the roll. Anyway, glad to see another enjoy the EFry tunic (okay we have to differentiate from EF) and now I'm adding Everlane. Did you see the chunky wool cardigan coat? https://www.everlane.com/colle.....coat-black It is very similar in quality to the EFry and just feels wonderful on. Una, are you reading? It's very long, knee length on 5'3" me in the small but really nice and so cozy but heavy and light all at the same time. What a banner year for sweaters!! Anyway, enjoy Elizabeth. Looks totally marvelous!!

So warm and cozy looking. I like 3 and 5 best for stylings.

#3 but I would wear dark socks - it may be more than me projecting cold than anything else. #8 is excellent.

Everything is great ! But I especially love #3, the tone of the denim looks amazing next to the dark sweater.

I personally love everything about it.

I like 2 and 7 best, the scarves give a nice vertical line. That size is perfect for you. Looks like a versatile and cozy sweater....as I sit in 60 plus degree weather in New England in February!

Thanks Firecracker and Retailgirl. And thanks for the vote of confidence for #2. I feel they just look so.... legging like... in the photo. They did feel okay on, which is why I posted them. Maybe with high boots.

Retailgirl... isn't the weather crazy? I'm taking advantage of clear sidewalks and wearing non-skinny trousers. It was 10C here a few days ago, followed by 1-4ish. Not as warm as you, but unseasonable to be sure!
