You are all really so kind and supportive, thank you. I could not have done this without you.
Janet, it does feel good now that it’s all gone. I’m in the process of my second edit, I hope it’s easier.
kkards, I had some of those last minute jitters loading the bags in my car but I stayed strong. Glad you did too! It was a beautiful day for a drive on my way to drop off my donations and played loud music in my car to distract me.
JAileen, did you end up editing the mugs? I find everyone’s thoughts on editing interesting but my SO just cannot let go of anything. The negotiations are hilarious-sometimes.
nemsmom, I didn’t need the space but it’s so nice not having those boxes haunting me every time I pop down there. I think we need to start a ‘keeper’ club for all the SO’s who can’t let go.
smittie, I have to INSIST that my guy get rid of clothing with non-repairable holes. He even wants to keep broken stuff around the house we replaced in case he can use the parts for something. UGH!
Christina, thanks! It seems we have a growing membership in the 'keeper' club!
suntiger, I sure hope so. You crack me up sneaking things out of the house!
Cardiff girl, another member of the club. This is so funny!
Jenni NZ, oh my goodness another member of the ‘keeper’ club. You nailed my emotions during the process, it was difficult to accept that part of my life has gone. Reading all the YLF editing stories helped. Good luck to you!
krishnidoux, thank you, very liberating!
Sterling, YOU actually helped me get over the hump. You posted that you edited a couple shirts and drove them right to the donation drop off was exactly what I needed to read at the exact right time. Thank you!
SarahD8, I did free up space! I always forget my bags at the grocery store but I save them and repurpose them. Good thing because I needed a ton for this!
Gretchen, thank you!
Kerry, I felt depleted when I lost momentum, but once it was all gone I felt energized.
Suz, I am so ready to tackle the next phase. I’m in the midst of that right now and looking forward.
Sal, thank you!
Angie, thank you!
cindysmith, thank you! It filled my trunk and spilled over to the interior.
Barbara Diane, thank you!
Sisi, thank you! I feel really good. What helped me is that I brought all the clothing to my room for evaluation. I tried it all on, organized it and even took a few pictures. I did get stuck several times and went back to read Angie’s editing posts. But this comment by Chris987 really struck me and I kept thinking about it,“One of the things I've realized about why it's important to let stuff go is that while you still have them you are spending lots of time in tiny little chunks looking at and thinking about them. If that looking and thinking is of sentimental value (or other value) that's fine, but when it's just "old clothes you never wear" it's a WASTE of time.” Good luck!
