Edinburgh Scotland Anne Fontaine shop

In October I will be in Edinburgh and may be able to go to the Anne Fontaine shop there.

I tried to look at the collection on the AF website and must be doing something wrong because I cannot see any clothing or prices!

I would like to buy one white blouse there. Are they known for fittings? I know the prices are high but I would like to invest in a fab white blouse.

So if I go in without any idea of what style I want, they are well trained to help me find a style that will flatter?

Although I know nothing about the Anne Fontaine shop in Edinburgh, I had to pop in to say that just the headline of your post alone had me salivating! Love Edinburgh - such a romantic gem of a city! Please take some photos for us - would love to live vicariously.

Edinburgh is beautiful! My brother and his family use to live there. It will be cold so wrap up warm. You shall have a BALL.

It’s hard to say what style you should get. Consider them all, try on as many as you see fit and think about when and how you plan to actually wear the item. That should narrow it down quite a bit.

There are no prices posted on her site, but I'd probably say expect to pay $300 -$350 (USD). If you go to the site and click collection on that tree graphic, you will be able to click on a book and that has the collection (part of it) where you can see it.

Hey, I just now opened the mail and got a catalog from AF with a sheet that has the prices listed, so if you find anything that catches your eye online, I can tell you how much it is. The prices I have are in US dollars though, it might be different in the UK.

Thanks Ana for posting that. My husband goes to SF a lot and he brought me back a catalog from AF. I was wondering how much the shirts actually were - so it's good to get an idea. Also, is the catalog the full collection? Or, are there more items in the store that aren't in there? I'll be down in SF in November and am planning on stopping by the store.

I would want a classic l/s white shirt that I can wear with straight dark denim jeans, flats and a fab bag for 5-7 years! lol!

AF has a "core" collection of shirts, mostly in the more "classic" button down styling, that she doesn't always feature in her catalogs. The catalogs are good for ideas and things, but I've found just going and browsing is the best way to find something good, and that will work for you. Things are usually much more beautiful and detailed in person than in the catalog, and also she layers things in the photos, so you can't see that most of them will "stand on their own" so to speak.

They are cheapest in France and they do go on sale. You’re looking at about 150 euro as a baseline price. But the exchange rate is bad at the moment.

I found her site confusing too - you're not alone in that!

When we were in Paris we visited two separate AF shops, one which was closed (so all we did was window lick) and one which I got a chance to shop at. It seemed that the two stores had different inventory. So my *guess* is that even if you fall in love with something in the catalog, it may not be in the store you visit.

Also by the time we were there, the summer sales season had just concluded, so sizing was slim pickings. Ulitmately none of them fit me anyway... but hopefully you'll have better luck!! The blouses are truly amazing and worth every penny.

If they had fit me, I'd have splurged and bought two: one classic blouse and one statement blouse.

My next challenge will be to convince my DH that we go to a AF shop when we only have 3 days there.

Hopefullly it is near the main shopping and sightseeing places!
