Eclipse outfit - YouLookFab Forum

I need your creative ideas on what I should wear Monday to a luncheon and eclipse viewing event. We will have a cookout type luncheon, eat inside and then walk outside for eclipse. In case of inclement weather we (seniors) will stay inside where there are several large windows we can still see the eclipse. I may or may not be asked to volunteer to help with luncheon. I don't think that has any bearing on what I wear, do you? If you think it does make any difference, then first I am a confirmed guest.

I have a cream colored with lemons and green leaves and stems, split neck, button down top, elbow length sleeves that I have been asked to wear. :)I was very pleased when asked. That is one less decision for me, and I have already started putting things together to wear with top. First off, I have a nice pair of yellow rock stud flats, pointed toes, cognac trim and gold studs. I have a pair of Lapis blue loafers.

Next, I am thinking of wearing my new olive slim pants from NAS. I also have another new pair of olive, cropped, flared leg, slightly dressier, yet casual, from Talbots I can wear. I think the green in the top goes well with olive. And I have light and dark wash jeans.

My real concern now, and wanting your opinions, I have a navy/ink with black pom poms fedora hat which I love. I am sure several of you remember how firm you had to get with me to get the hat!! (Embarrased) I have a yellow, may be called a bucket hat, over 20 yrs. old that I only wore for sunning at pool or the beach.

Please, please, take it from here. Any and all suggestions appreciated.

Your top sounds lovely, I might go with the more casual of the olive pants and the lapis loafers because it's an outdoor event even if you're indoors. I'm voting for the fedora, I'm thinking the black pom poms will provide a festive simulation of the eclipsed sun and you are not making the bucket hat sound appealing.

I love the way this sounds and I so wish you could post a photo of your outfit?

If I thought there was a possibility I might have to help serve food, I'd wear something that was easily washable. Your top sounds cute. I'd wear the casual olive pants, and the fedora because it sounds cool.

I'm going to Idaho and the forecast is for 93. So I'm going to wear cool clothes (clothes for hot weather) and lots and lots of sunscreen.

Do you have round or ball earrings to add? The lemon print top sounds great with your olive slim pants. The hat with pompous sounds most festive. We are also going to an event then out for DH's birthday.

I think the hat sounds great to include. You might want to look at my celestial challenge post to get ideas. There aren't many pictures yet, (I hope there will be when I reprise the post after the eclipse), but the ideas people had about what they will wear might give you some ideas.

Isabel, Thanks for the jolt! Why in the world I would even think about getting that 20 year old yellow hat, which had its better days 20 years ago, out of a rag bag and wearing it anywhere, especially when my wish was to look nice and I asked for help from the forum. Thank you for not letting me get away with that. lol So I am cracking up at myself for thinking that way. Just another example of my unintended weird sense of humor. I did wear my new, nice navy fedora with the pom poms. I wore the rock stud yellow shoes, partly because I have not decided if I am keeping the lapis loafers.

JAlleen, thanks for your comment. I did not help serve food this time or do any volunteer work for that matter. But your comment did remind me to plan carefully when going out to eat. I wore what I mentioned in my first post, but I was cautious and aware that a stain on my light colored top wouldn't be pretty, so came away as spotless as I went. lol

I hope you enjoyed going to Idaho. I bet your hot weather clothes looked cool. ( I knew what you meant). I know I would enjoy going to Idaho. As a matter of fact, I would be elated, because it is one of the few states I have not been.

Joy, yes, the gold ball earrings were just the addition I needed. Thanks for suggesting. Enjoy your double celebrations. How nice hubby's birthday is same as 2017 Eclipse.

Fashiontern, Thanks for pointing me to you CC post which I had missed. I did reply on it. I hope you and your son have a marvelous time.

I really enjoyed my day. Everything was planned and organized for us. All we had to do was sit back and enjoy it. And we even had a variety of homemade ice cream. I had strawberry. I did remember to thank everyone connected with it. They all worked hard to make it so nice.

Thank you for the update, it sounded like it was going to be fun and it's nice that it was.
