Edit: vacation capsule Help me decide what to take

On the 5th I will be traveling to New Orleans for a vacation/birthday/mothers' day gift. I am in need of help to not over pack so I am seeking your assistance to help me choose. I love visuals so this is picture heavy. Everything I am think about taking is right here from skirts to dresses to a denim romper and denim maxi dress tops and pants that can be mixed and matched to the shoes and carry on.

6 days 5 nights
1- scarf-dress silk
2- denim maxi
3- denim romper
4- scarf hem skirt linen
5-cotton shark bite hem tunic(thinking about wearing this on plane and as sleep/lounge wear)
6-hi-lo hem top rayon
7/8 harem pants 7 cotton. 8 cotton linen
9-cotton military shrug
10-linen blend sweater
12 shark bite tank cotton
13- swimdress
14 tank cotton
15-snake print leggins
19-22 travel carry on options. Back pack or black weekender
23- fanny-packs the blue is convertible.

Can you give some info on what you expect to be doing? And the temps? Do you need clothes to go all day, or will you have access to changing for dinner?

You have some fab clothes. I'm just wondering if you have enough top options? Of the bags, I would say maybe go with the black? It looks like it may carry more. Shoe choices look great, as do scarves and handbags.

I'm not sure what you intend to do during your trip, but since I've always desired to go to New Orleans - and sounds like you have lots os interesting things to do both day an night - I would add a pair of black or dark brown sandals with a more basic/classic shape and a few pieces of jewelry too if possible (I don't see your scarf-dress with neither of your shoes and some of your other outfits are quite versatile, so I think you could easily go from a day trip to a casual night out just by changing shoes and adding some jewelry). Beside that, more scarves means more options but if you need to cut something off you probably could work with only two scarves - one colored and one neutral (I particularly like your green scarf by the way - it's a really lovely color and it will work with almost everything else you are taking).

Love the visuals - my thought is wow that is a lot of clothes for a week. What are your expectations do you want to travel lightly - carry on only or the heck with that and total fashionista wanting to change for day and evening?

The selfies are going to do most of your sorting. You'll find what doesn't work very quickly.

From what I see here, I'd leave behind one or maybe even two pairs of harem pants. I'd consider adding shorts or leggings.

I'd also consider adding a favorite woven shirt. I find these perfect for layering in the type of weather you'll be traveling to (hit by my standards!)

I'd probably cut down to one scarf.

Elizabeth P.- The weather will be in the low 60's to hi 80's. I have absolutely no plans whatsoever. I will have the option to come back to the hotel and change if need be. I love packing list also.

Diane G.-3 tops your right I have two tanks I did not take pictures of for layering an 1 graphic tee. I will try a pack out for both but the black one has more pockets.

Marina-I have no intentions of plans at all so music and sightseeing. I will be using the scarfs as accessories I have two infinity. The will be used as shrugs and head wraps. I will try different colors for shoe options but I want to only take 2.

Frannieb- My hope is that You all could help me choose what to take and what can stay back. I want to take a carry-on and be a fashionista.

Traci-Wow great suggestions I will take into consideration everything you have said. I will try on the shorts with some of the tops I have and see how it goes.

What are you going to wear on the plane? I always want long sleeves and a warm wrap on the airplane (cashmere shawl?)

That way, if it ends up a bit chillier than you expect, you aren't hunting for something when you should be having some gumbo & a hurricane. And a simple tee can be worn under or over most of your tops in a pinch.

Kristjen, I was thinking about wearing:

5-cotton shark bite hem tunic(thinking about wearing this on plane and as sleep/lounge wear)
10-linen blend sweater (it is a wrap open sweater thingy)
7/8 harem pants 7 cotton. 8 cotton linen
And a wood wovn belt in picture 16 along with one of the scarfs not sure of the shoe yet.

Another thought, I always overpack shoes and I never regret it. I think I'd like a pair of light, strappy sandals added into your mix here.

Traci not one light strappy shoe do I own in my shoe wadrobe. I wear an 11 wide extra fussy and it would take an extra special strappy one to grab my attention. Lol I would describe my style as more of urban warrior/mad max/out of Africa/fembot.

I see there's a few showers in the forecast maybe. Have you thought about a jacket? Or a top with sleeves (long or short) for under the things with spaghetti straps? You might want to layer under as well as over.

Since you'll have a central base and everything looks like it will pack down, seems to me you could take it all without too much trouble. Have to admit I travel with fewer pieces. For six days, I'd take 1 pants, 1 skirt, 1 dress and 2 shoes (plus jacket, sweater, and a cheap necklace) - and *that much* just for the sake of variety. 'Course, I'm a big shopper. I know I'll always be coming home with more, lol.

For some reason I was thinking NOLA would be hotter. Definitely remember its steamy down there. Tons of humidity. So even though the temp may read 70s or 80s it may be sticky. The scarves stuck out to me, I don't know you'll need that many. Maybe wear one on the plane to save space if your bag is getting full. A long necklace could serve the same purpose. Comfy shoes are a must. Good luck and enjoy. Please post a trip report if you can!

Title change everyone beware I needed help in selecting items to take sorry for the confusion.

Rachylou- Just check the weather again your right my luck :0 it would rain but, I'm going to make the best of it. I have a great rain poncho I'll will post outfit pictures later tonight or tomorrow of the different combinations. Hopefully with help from YLF I can decide what to take and what to leave behind. I will keep what you said in mind. When I start to narrow down what to take because I am EXTRA or a Maximal. I have a shoper tote as a personal item and was going to use that to go shopping. but you have given me food for thought. Everything except for the shoes came from the thrift store so I'm not married to the idea of keeping it with me for the return trip.

ABC-I heard about the humidity maybe it is different than what 'm used to. I have spent years in the deserts of Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and lived in Chicago. All fabrics are breathable from cotton, linen, silk and blends of all. I will be using the scarfs as shrugs/head wraps/accessories but, I will narrow down. Shoes are comfortable I've been wearing the sandals around the house during chores have not road tested them. I will do a road test this weekend the weather will be pretty good. the slip on brown shoes are a walking shoes and they are so comfortable.
