This morning I received a sales ad from ecco.com and as I browsed the website I found that they sell different types of insoles for their shoes. This is good news for me because I have worn down the original insoles in a couple of the brand's shoes and the Superfeet insoles I replaced them with aren't working quite right.
I ordered a pair of women's support every day insoles and a pair of premium support insoles. Half off the cheaper model and free shipping. I have been editing my footwear and was torn because my original sneakers don't work so well, but are not worn out. I'll let you know how it works out.

Update: Both sets of insoles arrived. The everyday insoles are comfortable--nice to have that soft yet firm footbed.
They do have a little more arch support than the regular insoles, which is good for me.
The premium aren't as comfortable on my foot. They have more noticeable arch support, but I don't seem to need it. I added a foam pad to make them more comfortable and that has helped. I put this set into a pair of sneakers I don't wear as much as I do the brick red ones.
Haven't taken a walk with them yet, but I've been wearing them and I walk around the yard a lot doing early spring cleanup. They are fine for this. Much better solution than giving up on the shoes.
One problem I do have with Ecco--I normally wear a 10 1/2 or 11 US, so I buy the Ecco in 42. They are a little big on me. I do have a pair of 41s in a slip-on that have a wider ball of foot. I can wear them, but a couple of my toes rub on the top end. Wish they had a 41 1/2! The 42 insoles don't fit into these so I have to buy another pair. Fortunately the Superfeet work pretty well in them.
So in short: Not worth the extra money for me to buy the premium.
