EB parka: anyone seen this IRL?

In my hunt for a light puffer, my eye has alighted on the one below? Anyone seen it? It's not available in Canada so I would have to order it to my US address. Curious.

Great price and I love that it comes in petite and talls. I also like it in scarlet. Hopefully someone has seen it.

Yeah. It gets good reviews, too, for the most part. I don't think it is the warmest jacket in the world, but that's not necessary; I have a warmer one already with a hood.

I might just order it to give it a try.

I like the scarlet, too, but already own a red coat. And my idea was that white is more practical in a puffer than any other type of coat, because it is washable.

I had my eye on this. It's an attractive coat. I needed a warmer coat with a hood so I crossed it off my list, but I would love to see it on someone. EB typically has good quality. I have a heavily used red EB long puffer that is 5 years old and looks like it's brand new.

This seems to be this year's version of the one I bought last year. And I LOVE mine. I have it in ivory and it's super washable and without a doubt the best lightweight casual coat I have. I actually started wearing it yesterday - once the temps dipped below freezing. It's not a walk-the-dog-in-30 below coat though - at least mine isn't. It's perfect for wearing in the car, in stores, and when you don't need super heavy gear.

btw - mine is not white, it's decidedly ivory, which I think would be better at hiding the dirt/grime accumulated through everyday wear;

Suz, I also have an EB long ivory down puffer that is at least 5 years old and going strong. Great quality! And the range of sizes they offer is another plus.

Okay - this is GREAT news. I do agree that ivory might be a bit better at hiding stains, etc. It might also be a bit more flattering on me. I might check ebay.

But. It sounds like exactly the kind of coat I'm after. My other puffer is SUPER warm and actually not good for shopping, etc. because I overheat in it. I'm after a lighter weight coat that can be dressed up or down a little bit and that makes me feel less "dark."

It's a beautiful parka, and would certainly counterbalance the dark colors of winter! My only question was if it would be warm enough, but I see that you have a coat for the bitterest cold. I'd say give it a try.

I tried the shorter quilted parka from EB earlier in the year but the static issue was too much for me and I nearly instantly put it back in the bag. But it was kind of cute on. How do you guys deal with the static from these types of coats? With my long hair I routinely blow out light bulbs in lamps and get shocked by light switches in winter as it is!

That is fascinating. I have never experienced this problem at all, texstyle! I don't mean to say I have never experienced static electricity. It happens mostly with skirts clinging to hose, or sometimes when you are wearing a hat, your hair will get some sparks. Or in bed at night with your jammies if there are a lot of competing polyesters, you might see "fireflies" under the sheets when you move. (One reason I go for cotton sheets/ PJS.)

Do you have extremely dry air?

Where I live, winter air is not excessively dry. In fact, it can be extremely damp, and oftentimes, the damp is what makes us feel cold. I live on the shore of one of the great lakes.

So while we do have some static electricity issues in winter, they are pretty mild.

I can't ever remember noticing static while wearing a puffer coat. Ever .

I have a similar style from a few years back that I love and it is still going strong. It was my first puffer and I can't believe I had lived that long without one. I always felt like the Michelin tire man until Angie recommended this one. I ended up ordering mine in Tall which was perfect for me.

Yes, I guess it is my dry climate. It's not considered desert but there are fields of cacti in disagreement right outside. :-). My hair is not exceptionally dry but it is on the dryer side. Especially living out here. But I had the same issue in Austin where it is quite a bit more humid. Maybe I just have a weird electrical current in my body.

I walked by an Eddie Bauer outlet this morning and tried to find this coat. There was a white one with a hood with brown faux fur that was similar. I was surprised that they were not oversized. To layer a bulky sweater, I would probably want a medium. Those looked like they ran true to the size chart shown on your link. The small would be ok for most layering, I think. For comparison I have an EB down jacket from about 4-5 years ago, and it is an XS.

I love EB puffer coats. I think I have seen this one. I like that they are a bit nipped in the waist. I have no problems with static with these types of coats. I wear down puffer jackets from EB literally everyday in the winter because we keep our house really cold (like 62F) and I am always freezing. These coats are very lightweight. They wash up well, too. (Yes, I WASH down coats and have zero problems. I use a special soap I got at REI).

Oh! So glad you posted this find, Suz! It looks like the perfect Winter dog walking coat for me. I ordered it in scarlett. I also ordered the year-round car coat in pumice. Hopefully one or both will work!

I really like that style--looks good--do you think she is too sized-down in it or will it fit slightly roomy.

I am considering a puffer for this year--"Southern weight"--may start a new thread.

What is interesting about puffers or down coats is the range of colors for winter. Hope you find the right combination!

UF, I'm not sure about the fit. I ordered a regular xs and expect it will be tailored but not tight on me. In other EB coats, a S is too large. And I don't want to layer jackets under this one, particularly. Just sweaters.

Now here's an odd source, but something you might want to check out: Mark's (formerly Mark's Work Warehouse). I was there yesterday with DH who was buying work boots, and saw at least two styles of hoodless puffers in ivory/off white. On sale too. Now, I don't think they are super-high quality and not likely down filled, but for a extra throw-on coat, they looked really nice! If I didn't already have one, I'd have definitely picked it up as an extra. Really pretty colour.
