Hi all

Angie has been encouraging me to wear more tan and earthy colours. I do like earthy colours (when I can find them) but I am also very drawn to fresh, graphic colour combinations, particularly black and white. Also grey and white.

So this spring I have been putting together some outfits that combine these elements, mostly using tan, black and white. Some grey. I am calling it my “earthy + fresh” capsule. It works for me because it’s a neutral colour mix and I am comfortable mixing neutrals.

And the colours are like the colours of an Aussie cattle dog! What’s not to like!

For reference, these outfits go from early spring (colder) to late spring (warmer).

Outfit 1 (pic 2): posted previously.

Outfit 2 (pic 3): 2 x space dye. I love space dye.

Outfit 3 (pic 4): this sleeveless top dates from 2009. The abstract pattern combines grey, white and tan. I layered it over a long sleeve white top to give it more graphic punch. I wore this with a black trench. I would like a tan or caramel coloured one.

Outfit 4 (pic 5): posted previously.

Outfit 5 (pic 6): I have worn this combination quite a bit this spring.

Outfit 6 (pics 7&8): I resurrected this older jacket for late spring. It is more lightweight than the jacket in the previous pic, so better suited to the warmer weather. It is a little too tight on me now to wear closed but feels fine open. It is a fairly classic style. A bit corporate, except for the unexpected chevron pattern on the back.

Outfit 7 (pics 9&10): This outfit leans more earthy. But I think the white beads add some freshness. New bag!

This summer I am hoping to do a similar capsule but this time in ink, teal and green tones. With black and white of course! I am calling it “rich + fresh”.

Your thoughts or suggestions are welcome.
