I've had some downtime this past week and finally got around to a project I've been meaning to do for quite some time. Since I've started paying more attention to accessories, I've been adding to my earring collection. Until now, I've just been tossing them into a jewelry box, which leads to a bunch of rummaging around until I find the match. I've been wanting to find a better way to organize my earrings so I can see what I have and have them easily accessible.

I've seen this idea a couple of places and it couldn't be easier - it's just a picture frame with screening tacked inside and hung on the wall! Hanging the french wire style of earring was easy (the dangling type with the upside down "fish hook" that goes through your ear). The posts and clasp hoop styles were a bit trickier. Of course you could easily put the post type through the screen and secure through the back, but since I was hanging this on the wall, I didn't want to have to take it down each time I wanted to wear those earrings. I used to make jewelry and rummaged through my findings and found some eye pins. I bent the eye pin into a hook, hung the hook through the screen and then secured the earring through the eye pin.

It didn't photograph very well - I think it looks prettier IRL. Anyhow, given the love of closet organization around here, I thought you might find this interesting!

ETA: Note to self - for goodness sake, STOP buying blue earrings! LOL!
