My shopping strategy this year was to shop early, buy anything I needed, look at spendy things I might love, and then sit back to wait for Angie's picks. Her picks are pure gold. My instincts are pretty well-honed on what works for me at this point, so I pulled the trigger on a few items and will just have to wait to see if they fit.
1. Vince cardigan. I have high hopes for this. One of the HEWIs I wanted last year was a nice warm cardigan. I didn't get one. Not sure why, because cardigans are not difficult, but my last attempt was a bust. This year a nice cardigan was top of my list. This one looks classic, perfect for a writer who sits for long periods at a keyboard but must also answer the door. The Vince crew neck sweater I bought at last NAS is wonderful, and this very color, so I'm crossing my fingers.
2. Halogen v-neck cardigan. I'm not sure why, but Halogen is a reliable brand for me. This cardigan comes in many colors and patterns. I like this one because it will work with my predominantly black and gray winter pants collection, and also jeans. A little bit fun, too. There's also a blue and black lacy version that's tempting me because I love the color.
3. Missoni scarf. I always look through accessories (you never know) and this gorgeous scarf begged me to buy it. Look at the perfect colors! It will go with everything. Also, scarves always fit. Do I need to wait for winter?
4. Aquatalia bootie (please, autocorrect, stop changing this to Aquitaine). This is the only bootie that spoke to me. The only one. Some of the others were nice enough, including a Paul Green, which is my favored brand (they always fit like a glove). But the PG had too high a heel. I've heard good things about this brand (take that, autocorrect), and like this style's textured upper. Also, the weatherproofing factor might come in handy this winter. So I'm giving them a try.
5. Natori bra. One of two brands I wear and love. Why not stock up?
I also stocked up on my favorite seamless tanks and some lingerie wash. Sometimes you have to spend to save.
I'm reading what everyone else is buying, or not buying, or thinking of buying--such fun! Now for the waiting game...
