Duplication, for reasons

I bought an exact duplicate today. I've read too many posts here about how you guys have bought exact duplicates of items you love so that you have another one for when the original wears out. So I bought a second pair of the white sneakers, because ehrmahgawd are they comfortable. I know that they won't last forever, so I bought a backup pair today. It's something I never would have done before, but thanks to you guys I realized the error of my ways.

Duplication of comfortable, stylish shoes makes sense. I’ve done it with shoes that are integral to my style and that are amazingly comfortable. Glad you found a pair that fits your needs so well.

Duplication of wardrobe essentials can make a lot of sense, especially with hard to fit or find items like comfortable shoes. Smart.

I have two pairs of identical jeans. I think if you find a HEWI workhorse you’re crazy NOT to duplicate it!

Super comfortable shoes are the wardrobe item I am most likely to duplicate. I have a lot to accommodate with my feet, so if a pair ticks all the boxes, I will at times get exact duplicates as well as additional colors. This approach works for me as I wear them out long before I tire of the style.

I have duplicates of several items but there seems to be a specific type of item I am most prone to duplicate. Exercise Gear! I duplicate my running sneakers, exercise bras, leggings, shorts, tops, etc. I think the search for something that functioned well took effort and was expensive, so once I found something, I invested in multiples. I have a few pairs of shoes in duplicates, but not exact duplicates. I have the same model shoes in different colors, so I’m not sure that’s true duplication? I recently repurchased one pair of shoes because I loved them so much and they were almost worn out, and still available in stores. I duplicate jeans and will sometimes purchase multiple colors of cashmere sweaters in the same style.

when you find the perfect shoe, and you expect to wear it a lot...it makes total sense to duplicate! good for you

I’m a shoe duplicator also. As I am challenging to fit. Primarily in different colors but sometimes the same.

I think this makes sense with shoes, where it can be very hard to get just the right thing, and styles may change when you need them again. I’m considering doing this with my beloved Ecco metallic sneakers. I know they will last a few good years, but I’ll be very sad otherwise when they are dead.

The only things I ever duplicate are work out gear and running shoes. I think I did it exactly once in the past with a pair of wedge sandals (bought both a pattern and a solid) but that was the one and only time.

Well worth it as comfy stylish shoes are a hard combo. Not exact-duplicating has been one of my major shopping regrets. Duplicating in a different color has been a failure however.

I do the exact same thing Eliza mentioned. I duplicated my favorite bookend-my-hair flats almost a year ago, and I'm so glad, since the first pair is getting to the end of its useful life. I also bought the exact same pair in black, my most versatile shoe color.

I also duplicate some wardrobe essentials which are hard to find. I duplicated a pair of black Chelsea boots - a perfect pair for my feet. Bought the first pair for full price and found it later for half the price - so bought one more pair. Have not regretted it. I also buy multiples of work blouses and duplicate black trousers. I think your purchase makes a perfect sense!

You are smart to duplicate what works well for you. Even if the company repeats the same item next year, it may turn out to be inferior quality at twice the price.

I duplicated my absolute favourite black cropped jacket from 2016 recently. I had seen it in a retail store for $190 that year but the outlet store and warehouse is near me. I went and asked if they had it ( it wasn't out). As I shop there often and could show them a similar one in bright summer colours from them they were favourably disposed towards me and the older male owner said "Just sell it to her for wholesale price" $85.
I have worn that one since then 127 times! So in the outlet store's big sale recently I found another exact duplicate and bought it for $58.40. Wore that for the first time yesterday to the birthday party, because in a pristine condition for a special occasion.

Your shoes remind me of my new Allbirds (below) that I just got in a creamy white. They are stretchy wool and can be thrown in the wash which is why I would even consider white. If these work out, I will get a tweedy pair.

I have learned to always, always try on so-called dupes instead of just putting them away. The second item may come from a different lot or be manufactured in a different country. Or something. And of course different colorways can be completely different.

Dansko Professional clogs are notorious for fitting differently from pair to pair. My best fitting pair was the result of trying on at least six pairs and choosing the best right and left sides.

I just did it myself. I was wearing my summer boots, looked down at them lovingly and thought “these are the perfect shoes. I love everything about them and they are so unique.” From there it was maybe 5 minutes to ordering a duplicate pair in a slightly different color.
