Drop waisted dress on a long torso

I bought this dress for my daughter this last (Australian) winter and it proved a winner. She likes clothes to be comfy and soft.

I quite like the look of it and was wondering about getting something similar for myself (should I ever come across it)

I have veered away from drop waists for years, thinking they would highlight my long torso and bigger thigh area, but now I am reconsidering.
What do you think?

Well, nothing is ever certain until you try it on, but I wear and love drop-waist dresses because my torso needs lengthening and they seem to achieve that for me (and I'm not very hippy). That doesn't necessarily mean they won't work for you, but you might have to try harder to find a flattering style than I did.

You never know what you might discover. All these years I have been saying "NO TUCKING EVER" because I'm short-waisted and it just looked bad on me. But then I gave it another try this week and it didn't just work, it looked great.

In short: Some styles naturally work better on certain body types, but I think almost anything can be adapted for another body type if you're willing to put in the effort to find just the right piece. Just look at skinny jeans. They're a no-brainer for boyish, slender types...but anyone can wear them if they find the right cut and pair them with the right pieces.

My initial reaction is to say stay away, but I'd suggest trying one anyway! You just never know. DD is a sweetie :0)

Thanks for the input Maya and Angie. Sounds like my longterm caution about that look was justified, but should I ever see an adult version I will give it a go and get back to you.
