Dressy enough for black-tie?

I have been listening to the YLF wisdom about how skin tone shoes go with everything. News to me. Anyway, in my 12 shoe wardrobe plan, I have a slot for a dressy nude/light metal shoe or sandal that has to work for black-tie and weddings. It would be cool to be able to buy any color dress for a future event, although my event capsule is all black right now. If only I could fit into that white silk suit...

This sandal fits the heel height limit, the budget and will mostly cover the bunion scar which is still pretty raw looking. But is it fab? Fab enough to own one of 12 slots in the shoe capsule? Would you wear it in winter to an event?

I think the shoe is pretty dressy, but you asked about winter.

For an open toe shoe, the fashion police say you can't wear any type of hose. Would you go bare-legged to a formal black tie event, and would you do so in winter? Whereas a summer wedding might be different. Things might depend on your outfit of course, since it's less "bare" to go with bare "feet" in open toe'd shoe with a floor-length gown or with dressy trousers. I'm starting to really avoid open-toed shoes for really dressy occasions (which vastly reduces choice, BTW) because I tend to prefer hose even for cocktail-dress occasions.

Yes, they are dressy enough, but as unfrumped points out, you can't wear hose with them. Now I'm a fan of going bare legged whenever possible, but the truth is when it's below freezing, you're going to want some hose, or at least to have your toes covered so they don't freeze off. Even if you wear boots and change shoes at the event you'll probably still be cold.
At least where I live though, dressy booties or even dressy tall boots are perfectly acceptable winter dressy wear. So that is another more versatile option for winter dressy events.

I second the ladies above, but this all depends on what is winter for you.

Winter in Wisconsin is all about sweaters and warmth. Because it is FREEZING!

Winter in New Orleans, when I lived there, was a whole different story

They're lovely - but might be a problem in winter.

I don't receive commission from Zara, but I have to pass on a recommend for these shoes that I bought about a month ago. I LOVE them. I can dress them up and down...and all around The look great with slouchy pants, my white jeans - and gorgeous with a grey sheath I am planning to wear for a wedding.
I did size up a tad; I'm a size 7 - and the 38 with a small toe insert (to keep my foot from slipping) works great.

Since they are no hose shoes, and you do not want to go bare in winter, they aren't going to be year round shoes. The way I do things like this is do you attend more functions to wear dressy shoes in winter or summer, or both. That determines what I get and how much I spend. If you want just one pair for all seasons then I would go with dressy pumps.

I really like those shoes though!

Here in my warmer climate open toe is worn all year round, although I don't like them in November , December, when it is cold and rainy. There seems to be a real move away from panty hose, period. On another forum both myself and another asking about formal affair attire and weddings, many answers said no panty hose, absolutely. Even though I have older legs, I have OK feet, so wear long skirts, dresses, trousers, I wear dressy sandals with bare legs.
Last winter I wore a dressy top, trousers, and my higher heeled boots to a semi formal event as it was cold and raining.
This winter I will be looking for something like dressy low boots .
I was also going to ask a question about wearing opaque tights with pumps with a dressy suit or cocktail type dress.
This spring I wore a knee length dress with sandals and bare legs. This was a dress up luncheon event, and there were more older ladies than young. I took a survey of hose or no hose. Of the older ladies only three had no hose, and of the younger set, no hose.. Dresses outnumbered pants 4 to 1 so I felt very comfortable.

Hadn't thought about hose in winter. Merwoman, I like that option, or similar in a light gold/beige. At least I'm heading in the right direction on the dressy front.
