Dressing down trousers for sushi lunch date?

I ashamedly have not broken up my Express suit yet, and didn't realize it until I'd commented on Kari's thread. So, for happy hour sushi lunch date, I'd like to wear my zig zag Columnists in a casual way. Ideas?? It is high 40's and breezy/cloudy today, but no snow on the ground, so no shoe restrictions

Well, I actually went against the suggestions and wore the black and grey sweater. It is drippy rainy, very unusual for Tahoe, but probably very Seattleish 2 things I noted right away - the pants are too long, and the shoes I had to wear to make them not drag on the floor are no longer feeling stylish to me. (also, I need a haircut, but I knew that before donning this outfit - lol)
BF wore a dark blue cashmere sweater, his CofH jeans, and chukka boots. The sushi joint was full with a wait list by the time we were finishing - happy hour is a big hit.

The black looks great Mo, that was actually what I was leaning towards. Bigger contrast in dressiness levels! I can totally see this outfit with some pointy heeled black boots/booties, but not sure if that's your thing

The pants look great on you! I hope the hems didn't get too wet. I like them with the sweater - it's a nice contrast of textures. And you can try the blush moto on a sunnier day; I think that will work really well, too.

I like this outfit with the variegated grey and black in the sweater. You're right that pants look a little long, but I don't think your shoes are unstylish.
