Dear YLF,
Feel free to skip the prose and go straight down to the photos if you prefer to. The dedication in the title is there because I hold Angie directly responsible for this purchase:)
I've fallen in love! In a denim jacket from H&M. Who would have thought that? Since seeing Angie's dressed down dresses and skirts on the YLF blog, I've wanted to try that look myself. Last summer/fall I had no luck finding a denim jacket that was cropped enough, moderately distressed and not too faded. I want the pure basics, the classics, because then I feel like ME.
Yesterday I browsed H&M's L.O.G.G. department for such jackets and found them, but at first I thought I was too late. My size is always gone first, and also this time. But when I tried the next size down, it fit like a glove. Yay! This meant an important addition to my wardrobe at a very small price. A denim jacket has been on my shopping list for many months. I need it to casualize my dressiness.
So, today I played dress up, or rather dress down. I think I can wear this jacket with virtually all my skirts and dresses, so if I wear it like twice a week during spring, summer and fall, I might get trough it all.
#1: 1-3 My Dressiest Dresses with Denim.
1: A sleeveless sheath with light grey satin top and black lace skirt + denim jacket. I'm planning to wear this outfit to a party I'm going to in the beginning of April.
2: A halterneck dress that I always feel to exposed in. This jacket gives it coverage and attitude:) Could be a good outfit for the summer party at work.
3: My favorite dress - an Audrey-ish dress with a wide collar and short sleeves. Forgive it's non-ironed state, it lives in a box during winter. I want to wear this to death.
#2: My Mette Møller Wool Dresses are Ready for Early Spring
4: The red dress is suitable for spring with the jacket, micro fishnet hose and booties. This means the CPW is withering down to nothing.
5: The green dress with denim, cognac boots and silk scarf. Could also be a good fall outfit.
6: The grey dress with white shirt, denim micro fishnet hose and oxfords. Good for in between seasons.
#3: Playing With Skirts While Waiting for Spring
7: Inspired by Angie's beautiful client Karen: Purple skirt, white shirt, black tights and oxfords, denim jacket. A very good spring outfit for work. Swap tights for nude fishnets and oxfords with pumps when the temperatures rise.
8: Inspired by Jessica/What I Wore: Black turtleneck, black tights & brown booties, floral summer skirt with brown leather belt, and denim jacket. Fun, but very whimsical, not really me. Too young? Could work as weekend outfit.
9: Cream cowl neck top with birds, navy cotton skirt with brown leather belt, cognac boots, denim jacket. Love this! The belt is an important addition to finish the outfit.
#4: Anticipating the Norwegian Summer
10: B/W zigzag striped sheath, red wedges, denim jacket. A very good outfit for Norwegian summers. Coverage, coverage!
11: Hawaii-patterned dress, white linen scarf, greige pumps, denim jacket. Very good for work in June.
12: Floral patterned blouse, cream skirt, cognac boots, denim jacket. I love the various shades of neutrals in this outfit, and denim against cognac.
If you are still reading, I' humbled. Thank you for your patience. I had fun today, and I hope you had some fun reading about my efforts, too. Any comments, evaluations and suggestions are very welcome as always.
