I am back at it !
I got rid of a few dresses
The combo of my large chest and short waist make dresses a bit tricky.
These are what I kept :
1) In season
2) out of season
3) dressy
4) getting closer to fitting -it looks kind of good on me just right in the bum and thighs.

Here are a couple that I like that I think provide some hints as to why I am not sure on at least one dress :

5) I have to fix the waist as some sticking came out but I really like this one
6) despite the plate sized flowers on my boob and behind I really like this dress . Usually wear a black topper with it to tone it down a bit.

And here are questions :

7/8 is this dress worth trying to get the bodice shortened? The length ? I really like the cute cherry print and it is very soft and comfy .

9/10 - bodice is huge. Worth getting taken in ?

11) worth getting hemmed? Do I need to ? Would it be ok with boots and a topper at this length ?

12 ) what do you think of this dress in general ?

13) I think I will keep this as it is good with burgundy accessories but it is a bit blah isn't it ?

I love number 5 on you. I don't know about alterations so I cannot answer that for the other dresses.

Definitely get 7 altered. I find it one of the most flattering options. I'd say let go of 9 and 11. Not sure about the sleeves on 12. Maybe need a better picture. 13 should stay.

Momo -- for a woman who finds dresses difficult to fit, you have a lot of dresses!

And you're doing a great job on the editing.

It's tough to say whether you should alter these others because it's really a question of how much you love them and how much you would miss them. How many dresses do you need per season? How many do you regularly wear? Liking the item isn't enough reason to keep it. It's got to fit with your style goals, meet an actual need, or make you super happy -- preferably all three. And that is after fit and flattery have been taken into account.

#5 is pretty and floaty....
#6 colours are nice on you...
#7/8 is cute on you for sure...
#9/10 hard to know...what does the alteration cost?
#11 would you wear a summery dress with boots and topper?
#12 dress is pretty but not sure if it fits your style aspirations? How does it compare to your other sleeved dresses?
#13 I actually love this one on you -- colour is gorgeous.

In the end, when I've done big edits of this kind, I've learned that if I am questioning whether something is worth altering or whether it's stylish, that usually means it ought to go because even if it flatters and others say it looks nice on me, I won't wear it. I've actually paid for alterations on items, thinking that would make me fall in love with the item (or fall in love with it again) and except in the case of cropping jeans for a new length, it's never made me truly love the piece. Alas.

I like them all. 9-10 I couldn't tell it was huge until you pulled it out. Is it obvious or noticeable just to you?

You have some lovely dresses Momo and are doing great.

I personally would let 7/8 and 9/10 go. 9/10 seems very similar to 5 and 6 (which I both really like) but not as good a fit, probably not worth paying for alterations unless you adore it. I prefer larger scale patterns and that is why I lean to letting 7/8 go. This could be my own preference sneaking in - I am a tall hourglass too.

I am also not sure about 12....the sleeves? Also the smaller scale print again.

I think 11 and 13 are both lovely and I do not find 13 blah at all, I really like it on you. And it is great to have a long sleeved dress!

I am being honest here, so hope it is helpful.

I would let 9/10 and 12 go (altho I like the direction of 12). The others I like. The question is for me, would you really bother to get the alterations? Some things move me to doing it and some sit in the alterations bag until I decide to just pass them on.

I would let 9/10 go as it's so similar to 5/6, which already fits without alternations. In contrast to Sally, I prefer the smaller scale prints of 7/8 and 12. I actually like #12 and think it would look good with boots and tights in the fall/winter. I also really like #13 and think the color is really pretty. I would probably let #11 go as well, although I can't really articulate why.

7, 11, and 12 caught my eye even before I read your comments. I think 7 is wonderful on you. If you like it I'd definitely try to get it fixed. I think I have #11, but at the least I have one just like it, and I want to love it but it's never quite right on me (short-waisted, large bust) so it's still in my closet. Mine is a Lands End. I think the color is wonderful on you but it would need to be hemmed and I'm with Suz, I'm doubtful about it being a non-summer dress. I think #12 is just fantastic on you, like it was made for you. Where is it from?

I think #12 / #13 looks super, and I would like to see #4 on. I wonder what length it is and if it is something that you could wear over white jeans? I've just seen it is a cold shoulder top I think, even more lovely!

I'm sure you could find a dress maker to make the adjustments to the dresses in #8 and #9, and I think that it would be worth it. They look like they could work with all sorts of toppers, like bolero cardigans and denim jackets, with belts and bags to ring the changes.

But, if as you say, with previous alterations, the pieces still haven't worked, may be it is simply time to let them go, or may be just do one at a time.

I wear a lot of patterns and prints, and sometimes I find that even with pieces that I have loved, I have simply reached the stage, where I can not wear them a moment longer!

First of all, I'm reading with interest because these fit' n flare dresses are a style that works for me, although your collection is a lot nicer than mine, more interesting prints etc. As a first step I'd suggest you carefully review he questions Suz posted, they will help you make very good decisions.

What sort of topper do you wear with #6? I don't seem to find toppers that I find flattering on this style.

7/8 - I vote yes, get the shoulders taken in a bit that's usually a pretty simple alteration and will take up the length and pull the neckline up a bit.

9/10 - it seems very similar to 5 & 6, do you want/need three dresses with this sort of pattern?

11 - I vote shorten it, based on the other dresses you've shown, a length that shows just a hint of knee looks more flattering on you I think.

12 and 13 are also similar, although 13 looks more interesting with the blue color in the print. If either them is "blah" I'd say it's 12, not 13. We seem to have a lot of varying opinions here on this

The black white dress is suits you the most , you look perfectly fit in that. Your collection of dresses is really very nice. Try for ethnic wear it will give you a different look. I am attaching a photo with my post.

I like #13 alot- could your feelings be due to the slightly longer length?
#5,6 &9 are all quite similar- if you want to cull you could just keep one?

I think #7 and #13 look terrific on you. 7 seems to hug your natural waist perfectly and gives a great shape.

#13 looks very chic with the shorter sleeves than #12 and slightly longer length and I think the colour and print are lovely.

I think I will let go of 9/10 or just wear it with jean jacket which I think looks decent.
I will get the shoulders taken up on 7 and as it turns out I didn't realize I had safety pins holding up shoulders on 5 too! So that one will be an alteration as well.
And the other I will keep for now at least !

And I have one more I didn't show!

Th nic and Zoe seamed riding jacket. It has a fit and flare shape as well that goes over the dress quite nicely. A bit long too. Not a traditional dress topper look but one I like.

This is exhausting!
I have a bit more to go but i really have made great progress. Thank you for cheering me along, I wouldn't get anywhere with out it !

Just a suggestion but if you need a lot of pieces altered, you can ask for a discount. Many places will do that if you have multiple pieces that need work. Another thought, have you tried spaghetti strap camisoles underneath the dresses to change up the look? I do that sometimes, put a round neck cami under a v neck dress. You can pick a color that matches the print or something bright for a pop of color.
