I actually bought the Eliza J in Salsa at full price before the sale. I think it's well worth it (and yes, thinking of "that occasion that pops up," including Christmas). Extremely flattering on an hourglass or pear shape; substantial enough weight to hang in a way that hides bumps--though not technically a winter weight. The v-neck on me might be a tad bombshell-ish by showing an inch of cleavage, but a scarf or large necklace would fix that if I need to be uber modest. Fabulously classic, which is why I chose color to make it special (and ps--the Salsa is a yellow/warmish red to my eye--not "clear" or cool red--which is good for me). The Tahari looks gorgeous to me, too, and I would buy it if I needed another black dress. I think the neckline makes it special. Go for either one!
