Dresses - to keep or not ! - YouLookFab Forum

So I've found a few dresses from a few place and am unsure about keeping them wanted to get everyone's inputs.

1. Loft - I've been looking for a black floral print forever and I love how this fits on my body and quite comfortable. It's a bit low cut in the front, but I tend to wear cami underneath anyway.

2. Target - WhoWhatWear - It's a long sleeve dress but at $15 is was steal. For a regular size (not a petite), it fit quite well for an empire waist and sleeves are not long at all. Is the length okay or should I alter?

3. Ann Taylor - I fell in love with the leaf motif in this wrap dress with a bigger sleeve (what type of sleeve is this??). It is a petite dress with a straighter bottom (not a-line which I prefer). What do you think?

4. Ann Taylor - Here's another wrap dress in a red color which I don't have in my closet but I feel like the large bold patterns overwhelm me. I'

Dress 1 is just so you, it's perfect and so pretty. Then dress 3. I agree with what your thought on dress 4, print overwhelms you. Then I am sorry but I don't like dress 2. I feel it ages you, not in a good way. For me looking quickly at dress 1 then dress 2 you just look so fantastic in 1 and then suddenly not. But if you love it, ignore me!

I think the leaf print one is a dolman sleeve although somebody should keep me honest on that. That one is my favourite. I also like the first one, as it seems to fit nicely and looks very pretty.

#1 and #3 for sure. Not loving #2. #4 looks interesting, but I would need to see it styled.

Addendum - the more I look at #2 the more I doubt my first impression. It does seem a bit retro (your style) and with shoes, pearls, etc. ? There might be something there...

This is the order of my preference: 3,1,2,4. Take this with a grain of salt, though.

3 is perfect.
1 is very nice.
2 is quirky. Your style might be kind of quirky so maybe that's a good match.
4 is okay. I'm not attracted to big tropical prints.

Another fan of 1 and 3. Don't love the print on 4. 2 seems very proper, but could work with a retro styling. Agree the sleeve on 3 is dolman.

I really like #3. Just my eye, but 1 and 2 look a bit vintagey, but maybe that is something you like (sorry not too familiar with your style).

AND, I think #4 could be that wild card - maybe go for the gusto on this one! It could veer kinda vintage, depending on accessories, but it also reminds me of modern looks I'm seeing now (like Marni).

Love #1 an #3. I'm not crazy about #2 but it could work with the right shoes/bag. Try it on with the shoes you'd wear before you decide about hem length. I agree that the print in #4 is a bit overwhelming.

I have dress 1, which I love. You actually have it on backwards, though I tried it on that way too and it can be worn that way.

1-3 work for me. 4, the dress seems a little too big in the upper bodice to me.

PLEASE keep #3! The graphic print and dramatic color combo suit you perfectly! (I would call that type of sleeve an extended-shoulder cap.) Number one is feminine and flirty, and well-fitting, as Angie said. Number 2 is very buttoned-up and would not work on most women, but I think you will have fun styling it with a retro slant, and for $15, why not? I would follow your instincts on #4--it's not terrrible, but the print is awfully bossy, and who needs that?
