Dress suitable for slouchy boots/no hose?

I've been trying to find dresses to wear with my slouchy mid-calf boots. My dresses are all either too short to wear without leggings/hose, or too long for mid-calf boots.

While at Marshalls looking for the Max Studio dress Tanya had, I found this dress:

Does it look ok with the boots but no hose? Or perhaps more importantly -- does it make me look pregnant/shapeless? I'm a little leery of dresses and tops that fall straight down from the chest.

I like the dress from the front. I'm not sure about the side. I've tried a few dresses on like that and felt like it needed to come in a bit more under the bust instead of falling straight down. It may just be that my eye hasn't adjusted to this look completely. I'll be watching this thread to see what others think.

On an aside, I nipped by Nordstrom Rack (Westgate) a few weeks ago and they had a whole circular rack of MS dresses. I would have loved to peruse but I had to dash off to p/u from school. It looked like they had a nice assortment at similar prices to TJ/ Marshalls.

The dress looks great, and I think it absolutely works with the boots. I am not sure about the color, it seems warmer than you normally wear, or is it the picture? I really like the sleeves!
Our Rack had a ton of MS dresses, too, including Tanya's. I know it doesn't help but maybe they get the same stuff delivered at the same time

marianne -- hm, you're right about the color. I like teal, but tend to wear a darker, cooler teal. I'll have to think on that one.

I love the dress, the colour and the dress with boots. I think the dress works because their isn't even a hint of curve at the stomach. You definitely do not look pregnant!

I like it too, but you might want to check to make sure you can add a jacket over it (if you're wanting versatility). I find it hard to add more volume on top of an already volumous dress or blouse. That is where I really end up looking like a puff pastry.

You need to layer over the frock with a longer item thats preferably woven, or a cropped denim jacket. But your Winters are really mild so I doubt you’ll need to layer at all!

Maya -- yes! I love the relaxed fit too. So comfy and easy to wear.

queenie -- interesting point about jackets. If I wore something over it, it'd be outerwear that I would take off after arriving where I went (long coat or anorak). So you wouldn't be able to tell what I was wearing underneath the coat.

Angie -- Good point about the option of a cropped denim jacket. But you're right, I don't think I need to layer really!

Hmm... I'm with Kellygirl on this one. But like her, may not have my eye in. (And am a bit jaded about empire lines having tried on heaps of summer dresses with a gathered empire line - I know this is pleated which is better, but it isn't that different)
