I have been hunting frantically for a dressy, flattering, fun, comfortable blah blah blah long sleeved dress I can wear to three immediate upcoming events (reunion, friend's philanthropy award, work party). And of course wear later as needed. It doesn't have to be black - in fact I'd prefer a pattern or color - but that is mostly what's around!

This dress is pricey but it's my ideal length and shape, and I feel the sheer inset detail is interesting for a LBD. Could be worn with different footwear to change the look.

What are your thoughts? Be honest!

I think it's very cool! I couldn't wear it in this lifetime, but I bet you would look fab in it!

Um. You said honest, I honestly think that looks like a tunic. A very nice looking one but a tunic all the same.
You could try it but it just looks awful short to me, I know models are generally tall.

Thanks, Tina! Honesty is good. I'm barely 5'2" - this would be above the knee on me.

I think it's cool. The question is will it read too sporty (the stripes, even though sheer read a little sporty to me) /casual tunic-y for the events you intend it for, or will it be fine and can you dress it up with the accessories and shoes.

I'm assuming with your height the length would be fine, but you know, a sit down test to see what you can see through the bottom stripe in various positions might be good.

Wow! Huge difference in length between you and the model! Why does that never happen to me? I'm 5'3" and dresses are almost always too short. Mind you, a dress that is just above the knee will pull up more than a skirt because it has to pull from the shoulders not the waist when bending over or sitting down, it may be my level of comfort that is talking here.
I would try it. It is a very attractive dress and the style would totally suit you.

Interesting, Rabbit! I'm looking more for fun cocktail party than formal but not sporty... The pic makes it hard to tell in the sheerness. Food for thought...

I like it for you, at least without seeing it on. My question would be tights or hose, and what color (assuming it's too cold for bare legs)? Patterned semi sheer might be fun!

I really like it - it looks versatile to me. I can see it working with booties, flats or heels so worth a try imo.

I think the sheer panel could make it too short. But I vote try it anyway. The right hose could do the trick. MUST do the sit down test.

I think it's really cool looking, if the length works. If the length doesn't work, you could add another sheer panel at the waist, backed by something--a nude lining, perhaps.

Oh my! I do love it, and I think you would rock it. But I'd love a few extra inches. Though as a fellow shortie I know things can often work, so the only way to know will be to try.
I think it would be a versatile buy, and I could imagine it made more casual with tights and chunky boots too.

Love, my kind of dress, of course, I'm petite and the this would be a perfect lenght for me. You can always try it and wear with opaque black tights

Adorable, youthful, fun, flirty, fashionable yet classic. A good choice. Since you look shorter than the model, the hem length will be more mid to lower thigh on you, and less of a mini, which may be more appropriate for the functions you mentioned and for comfort when sitting and bending. Go for it.....it should suit you well. While Caro's choices are nice, I prefer your choice.

For color and pattern, have you tried Ali Ro dresses? I love her dramatic patterned shift dresses. Seriously comfy and go from work to cocktail.

Well I love it and think it might be long enough. I love that it's simple enough that it can be worn across a variety of dressy occasions and the insets make it interesting and a little edgy. You could enhance the edginess as much as you wanted by your leg/foot wear.

It's an awesome dress. I'm your height and would be a little uncomfortable with the sheer panel, but you're willing to push the envelope a bit more than I am, so I could definitely see it working on you. The question of tights is a good one though. If you wear black, does it defeat the purpose of the the sheer panel? Or do you wear nude hose?

Thanks everyone - there are all kinds of deal breakers to consider here but I think I'm going to try. I have several returns that will make up for some of the cost. Will post pics when it arrives!

I really like it for you una and hope that it does work in length. The style seems pretty perfect for you *and* it seems like you could really style it a lot of different ways.

I like the style for you--may prefer dresses that have teeny bit more hem structure but you don't really need it. My bias is that the sheer inset is in an unfortunate place and will make it problematic for wearing with sheer hose or bare leg and so less versatile, but you'd have to try to see, perhaps it translates okay IRL.

I agree that it's worth a try, but I think the sheer panel will make it too short. It reads as almost obscene on the model because its true length is the solid above the sheer panel, not below (at least the eye sees it that way).

I really like the dress, diffently worth a try. Would look great with a statement necklace. If it doesn't work, maybe take a look at Piperlime. They have a few elusive sleeved dresses.
