Thank you all for your great feedback on the last round of my formal dress search. I tried lots of dresses on at the mall today. When I saw this dress it was love at first sight.

I'm not pushing any buttons or any boundaries with this little polka dot ruffled number and yet it is perfect. I feel lively, youthful but age appropriate in it. I also feel like it gives me nice curves because of the boning and structure. It doesn't feel very trendy. I think I could wear it for many years to come. I'm also not afraid of it because it's not crazy expensive. Hope you all like it! I still have the tags in if you think it is totally inappropriate!

You nailed it with this dress!

I can also see it with a very cropped denim jacket when wanting to dress it down, or a cropped bright little cardi for fun, endless options for fun colors of shoes, bags, bangles, necklaces. Oh, my!! I think I want one too!!

Plus, that looks like a pretty cute little shop I'd like to hang out in. . .

One more little tid bit about this dress: as I'm walking out of the store with my purchase, the SA's told me that it was worn on American Idol this week! Did anyone see it?

I think it looks perfect on you. It is a bit flirty, fits beautifully and is extremely flattering. I also agree that it could be dressed down and the look changed with accessories.

I really like this a ton. I think that the boldness of the polka dot pattern will do away with any concerns that it is too white for a wedding (I am always ultra-sensitive of that). I know you were saying in your earlier thread that you really wanted something bombshell/body conscious because that's what is expected at events like these and you often feel out-of-place. As I said, I think the dress is great, but I wouldn't describe it as body-hugging bombshell. What do you think?

That's not to say I don't think it looks fabulous and is appropriate for a wedding (for the ones I go to, it would be more appropriate than something very figure-hugging). But since you mentioned that as being important to you, I wanted to throw it out there.

Love this dress! It flatters your figure beautifully, and I think it would be completely appropriate for a wedding. However I have to agree with Steph; would it fit in with the kind of environmental norm you described in your other thread? If it makes you feel fabulous though, go for it!

This dress fits you very well. I like how it is so flattering yet fun. You should have fun experimenting with a punch of color: shoes or clutch (or both?) (or hat?)

This is one of those lucky situations when it's all just as it should be with the dress. Pure perfection, you look stunning and you'll wear it and love it so much that you'll wonder how come you ever questioned if it might be inappropriate.

The obvious styling choices are adding a bold colored clutch, shoes or belt, but I'm thinking a colored shrugs, scarves, gloves maybe? Even something in reversed polkadot pattern or even stripes... I guess you'll need to play a lot with this dress for us so we can enjoy its possibilities.

Steph raised the concerns I have - I love the dress but it does not strike me as what you said you were looking for for this particular event/crowd of people (thinking back to the original dress that did not pass muster for you).

That said, I think it is a flattering, versatile dress. Is the sash removable? If so, I can see a bright belt as a nice accent to those polka dots when you wear it again.

I love this dress on you! I think you would get a LOT of use out of it. I did go back and re-read your post on the "glam-ness" you wanted for the wedding. Could you add a MAJOR necklace to this to glam it up a bit? Something big, sparkly and glitzy? Just an idea.

Wowweeee I scored a killer rating from Angie! I'm thrilled the dress makes the cut!

@Heather, I saw the mother of the groom today and asked her about wearing white to the wedding and she has no idea what I was talking about, so I'm thinking that the wedding color rules (no white or black) don't apply to this crowd.

@Steph, Rae, good point about the bombshell look. Because of the structure of the top and ruffled full bottom, it gives me a pretty extreme hip to waist ratio. It's a very powerful illusion. Everything is covered but it is very sexy. This is much more my style than the comical over the top mini bodycon dresses I tried on at Bebe, Arden B and Cache. I saw several other Russian women trying on and purchasing dresses that were tight and totally blinged out. This just isn't me.

@Ornela, kd, this dress is going to see lots of fun accessories in the future, but it's first appearance at the wedding has to be perfection. My family has no filter. I can't show up with a crazy hat or odd accessories. I'm most likely sticking with creamy majorica pearls, black patent pumps and a slightly oversized black patent clutch.

I'm so excited to wear this dress, it's going to be hard to wait until August!
