I thought hemlines were coming down. Not going up. I'm 5' 3" and half of what I try on is too short.
I went to Macy's yesterday and tried on a handful of dresses. I even put one and hold and went back and looked at it again last night. I didn't buy it. Everything is 2-3" above the knee. I just want a couple of decent dresses with the hem in the middle or right below the knee or even tea length. Why is this so hard?
I did buy one dress that I will post tonight for keep or return. Is anyone else having this problem?

Angie-I just saw your tweets on this subject so I guess I'm not the only one.

I know! It's really frustrating. I have five items of clothing I can't wear until I take them to have the hems let out, and even then the two dresses will still be above the knee.

It's not just you, Debbie. I'm incredibly frustrated too. I found one dress at Macys that I love (Alfani brand on sale), but that's it.

Sandy is tall and we tried on 10 dresses that were too short when we shopped together earlier this week. Then we hit the mother load and found five dresses that were long enough!! Sandy went home with 4.

Debbie, I think you'll really like the CK dress I just put into the store.

Thank you, Debbie, for highlighting the major upside to plus-size shopping -- dresses all have adequate length and 9 times out of 10 hit me right on the knee! It's great! But sorry to hear of your own frustrations -- hopefully Angie's suggestions get you sorted out.

Debbie, I'm right there with you. I'm also 5'3" (having shrunk an inch) and would love to find a dress that hits midi length just below the knee. I can't even find one that comes to the top of my knee this spring. I'll have to check to see what Angie put in the store.

Twenty thumbs up for the new dress in Angie's store! I bought it several weeks ago for an afternoon garden wedding. LOVE it. The regular comes to the bottom of my knee; the petite comes to slightly above my knee. ETA: I'm 5'4" and tried a size 2 in both regular and petite.

I hear you, girl! I'm 5'6'' and it's so frustrating. I hate to be so picky but I have so many filters a dress must go through that I didn't have to worry about when I was younger - can't be too short, can't be too clingy, not too low cut, no cap sleeves...

That's probably why I've been wearing so many skirts, but I would love to find some great casual summer dresses.

I understand dress frustration, not only do I find many of them are hitting me at mid thigh (and I'm only 5'3") but many are also a clingy material. I wish more dresses had more structure to them.

Debbie, I find this so frustrating as well! Then I also have the problem of finding one I like that isn't polyester. It's too hot here to wear polyester!
